According to the official statement, the expanded G7 Trade Ministers' Meeting in Italy is scheduled to take place on July 16 and 17, 2024, focusing on strengthening trade and investment relations among participating countries.
The coastal city of Reggio Calabria in southern Italy will host the discussions as part of the G7 Trade Ministers' Meeting.
In addition to the Ministers of the G7 member countries, the G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting was attended by Trade Ministers and Government officials from India, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, South Korea and Vietnam as well as representatives from the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). India was invited to attend the event as an observer.
The Vietnamese delegation led by Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien will attend the conference and deliver an important speech.
The aim of the Conference is to explore new opportunities for trade and investment, address bilateral trade issues and enhance economic cooperation.
The Indian Ministry of Commerce announced that it will present India's key trade and investment prospects during the expanded session.

At the conference, Minister Piyush Goyal is expected to present India's views on global trade and supply chain resilience, as well as highlight recent reforms and initiatives to improve the business environment and attract foreign investment.
Minister Piyush Goyal’s visit to Italy is of special significance as India is currently engaged in negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the UK and the European Union. Mr. Piyush Goyal’s attendance at the conference also shows positive signs in India’s trade diplomacy.
Before going to Italy, Minister Piyush Goyal visited Switzerland on July 14 and 15 to meet with the Commerce Minister and Swiss Government officials.
The discussions come at a crucial time for India’s international trade relations, and are likely to influence India’s ongoing and future trade negotiations with several G7 member countries.
At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Antonio Tanjani, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien - Head of the Vietnamese delegation paid a working visit to Italy to attend the G7 Trade Ministers' Meeting. This is a valuable opportunity for Italy and Vietnam to affirm their roles in global trade and also an opportunity for the two countries to work together to build a sustainable and stable international supply chain. Accompanying Minister Nguyen Hong Dien on his working trip to Italy were representatives of the Government Office and representatives of functional units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In Italy, in addition to the main activities, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien and members of the working delegation will have bilateral meetings and work sessions with partner units to promote economic and trade cooperation with countries in the European region. |
