
On November 16, in Ho Chi Minh City, the City Youth Union, the Ho Chi Minh City Young Pioneer Council, the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center in collaboration with SCG Group organized a scholarship award ceremony for students in the Southern region.
The SCG Sharing the Dream Scholarship 2024 is for students with good academic performance (admission score of 24 points or higher for first-year students, cumulative average score of 8.0/10 for second-year students), difficult family circumstances, with the will to strive, outstanding talent, interested in major national and global issues, with dreams and ambitions to overcome difficulties, and the desire to contribute to society in the future.
This year, the scholarship awarded 100 scholarships for students (worth 15 million VND/scholarship) and 100 scholarships for pupils (worth 2 million VND/scholarship) nationwide, with a total scholarship value of 1.7 billion VND. In the Southern region alone, scholarships were awarded to 74 students. Of these, 65 scholarships were awarded one time and 9 scholarships were sponsored for students with good academic performance, maintained until they graduated. The scholarship value is 15 million VND/scholarship.
Mr. Le Xuan Dung, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center, shared: Over the past 5 years, the program has supported nearly 500 students to overcome difficulties and fulfill their dreams of conquering knowledge. Among them, 20 excellent students represented Vietnam in international competitions and forums; 16 community projects were presented and applied in practice with the accompaniment, financial support, knowledge and advice from experts.
"Many students after graduation have volunteered to return to the program as companions, guiding the next generations to continue implementing projects that benefit society. This is the foundation to create a community of young people who share the aspiration to live a life of dedication and sustainable development," said Mr. Le Xuan Dung.
It is known that over the past 17 years, the program has supported more than 5,600 scholarships for students nationwide with a total value of up to 40 billion VND. In particular, since 2018, the program has organized many more activities to support student capacity development through training programs, coaching, and training for students in social practice skills, vocational skills, employment, etc.
The scholarship program has organized more than 100 training sessions, more than 50 connection sessions with experts and businesses, and factory visits for students to access and gain practical experience.
