On the evening of May 1, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital (Dong Nai) said it was monitoring and treating 73 people suspected of food poisoning after buying bread to eat.
Accordingly, on the evening of April 30, the hospital began receiving a number of patients admitted with fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea...
The patients all ate meat sandwiches from an establishment on Tran Quang Dieu Street (Xuan Binh Ward, Long Khanh City) between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on April 30.
However, after about 4 - 8 hours, symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, loose stools, fever appeared... Some people bought medicine to take at home and were hospitalized the next morning.
According to the initial diagnosis, the patient was hospitalized for health monitoring for intestinal infection and was treated promptly.
Of the 73 hospitalized patients, 5 have stabilized and been discharged. The remaining patients are also stable, with no serious progression, but are still being monitored.
After the incident, Long Khanh City Medical Center coordinated with the Health Department and related units to take food samples for testing and set up a team to inspect the above bakery.
As a result, the facility has a business registration certificate, and the food processing area is not near a source of pollution. However, this facility does not have a certificate of food safety eligibility, a certificate of food safety training, a health certificate, or a contract to purchase food ingredients...
The inspection team requested the facility to temporarily suspend bread processing operations until a conclusion is reached by the competent authority.
At the same time, the facility is required to contact the authorities to apply for a certificate of registration of a facility that meets food safety conditions and a health certificate for employees.
