To complete the Vietnamese record-setting squid cake weighing 200kg, 18 gas stoves and a total of more than 4,400 liters of Neptune Light premium cooking oil were needed for the entire frying process.
Each squid cake is made on a circular mold, 2.6m in diameter and 30cm thick. To flip the cake while frying, the chef must use a winch.
According to experienced squid sausage makers, to successfully make squid sausage, the selection of cooking oil plays an important role, especially with large squid sausages weighing 200kg.

Ms. Hong Hai - a squid sausage artisan at Manh Ha facility, who is also the main chef in charge of preparing the record-breaking squid sausage - said:
"The familiar cooking oil that has been used for many years by most squid sausage processing facilities in the area as well as many generations of squid sausage artisans in Ha Long is Neptune Light premium cooking oil.
This oil has a unique formula combining 3 types of oil with high-quality natural oil ingredients: brown rice oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, so in terms of sensory perception, the oil achieves a golden color and a very suitable smooth consistency.
When fried, the oil helps the squid cake achieve a delicious, bright golden color and a light, crispy crust. In my personal experience, when fried with this oil, the squid cake will expand evenly and have a very characteristic shine. Eating the cake does not cause a feeling of fullness due to the oil and is very flavorful."
Representative of the organizing committee, Mr. Bui Minh Tan said that squid cake is a long-standing dish, created by Ha Long people from local ingredients. Up to now, the dish is considered the "ambassador" of tourism of Quang Ninh, one of the famous specialties of Vietnam.
Therefore, when deciding to bring this local representative dish to participate in setting a Vietnamese record, the organizing committee set many strict criteria in selecting raw material suppliers to ensure the finished product is of high quality.

In addition to fresh ingredients, cooking oil is the main ingredient in the processing stage, contributing to the quality of the finished product.

Once completed, the squid cake will be cut into small pieces to share with locals and tourists to enjoy with Nam Duong chili sauce, making the squid cake more delicious and flavorful, so that diners can fully feel the "soul" of the local specialty.
