Vietnam surpasses 5,000 millionaires with assets over 10 million USD

According to The Wealth Report 2025, Vietnam currently has about 5,459 individuals with net assets of over 10 million USD, accounting for 0.2% of the total number of millionaires worldwide.

According to Knight Frank's The Wealth Report 2025, globally, the number of people owning $10 million or more (excluding residential real estate) will increase by 4.4% in 2024.

The US continues to lead the list this year with more than 905,400 individuals with net assets of over 10 million USD (accounting for about 38.7%), followed by China (more than 471,600 people) and Japan (more than 122,000 people).

Compared to other countries in the region, Vietnam is behind Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc. in terms of the number of people with net assets of over 10 million USD.

According to Knight Frank, a super-rich individual is someone with a net worth of $30 million or more. The firm predicts that by 2028, Vietnam will have 978 super-rich individuals, up 30% from 2023.

The Wealth Report 2025 provides analysis of private wealth and global investment trends. This year’s report examines the changing behavior of private investors and family offices, providing insights into both commercial and residential real estate.

In the Asia- Pacific region, luxury home prices in key markets increased by an average of 3.2%, according to the report.

While below the 10-year average of 4.6%, the figure is only down slightly from last year, reflecting a region adjusting to the challenge of higher interest rates.

The Malaysian market is increasingly seen as a lifestyle destination, alongside Singapore and Australia. The Tokyo market is attracting global capital and is increasingly seen as an investment hotspot.

Meanwhile, Vietnam is rapidly emerging as a luxury housing market with significant growth potential in key markets.

According to a report by New World Wealth (South Africa) and Henley & Partners (Switzerland) published in 2024, Vietnam has 19,400 millionaires with assets over 1 million USD, and 58 millionaires with assets over 100 million USD.

During the period 2013 - 2023, the number of dollar millionaires in Vietnam increased by 98%, nearly doubling.

According to Forbes' list of the world's richest people, Vietnam currently has five billionaires. Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong - chairman of Vingroup - is the person with the largest assets in Vietnam with 6.5 billion USD.

Following are Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Chairwoman of Vietjet (2.8 billion USD), Mr. Tran Dinh Long - Chairman of Hoa Phat (2.4 billion USD), Mr. Ho Hung Anh - Chairman of Techcombank (2 billion USD) and Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang - Chairman of Masan (1 billion USD).
