In April, the bright red cotton flowers bloom on the high branches, making anyone passing by look in amazement.
During the winter, the kapok tree is silent, shedding all its green coat, seemingly dry and rotten. But when spring comes, a latent vitality suddenly rises, awakening the flower buds hidden in the rough shell. The kapok flowers are large, with thick petals, bright red like tiny flames, burning on the bare branches.
According to traditional medicine, kapok flowers are sweet and cool, have the effect of clearing heat, detoxifying, and stopping bleeding. They are often used to treat diarrhea, dysentery, hemorrhage, ulcers, and bleeding due to trauma.
People come to pick flowers to bring home as medicine, and many young people from neighboring areas come to check in, preserving youthful moments with the April sky full of rice fires.
The flower only blooms once a year and usually lasts about 3 weeks, so it is always awaited and sought after by many people.

According to Ms. Thuy Trinh (38 years old, Hanoi), the image of the towering kapok tree has become a familiar and close symbol in the souls of Vietnamese people.
"Not only beautiful in appearance, the kapok flower is also associated with many dear memories of the Vietnamese countryside. The kapok tree is often planted at the entrance of the village, next to ancient communal houses, or along familiar dirt roads. The shade of the kapok tree is where children play, and where adults stop to rest after hard days of working in the fields. The kapok flower petals fall into the village pond, drifting lazily on the blue water, creating a peaceful, poetic scene," she said.
