The 11 subjects of the 2025 high school graduation exam include: math, literature, foreign languages, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, history, information technology, technology, economic education and law.
Candidates must take compulsory exams in math and literature and choose 2 subjects from the remaining 9 subjects.
With this regulation, there are 36 ways to choose the subject combination for the 2025 high school graduation exam as follows:

However, in reality, there may not be some subject combinations as above. The reason is that candidates can only choose subjects they have studied in grade 12.
Geography, economic and legal education, physics, chemistry, biology, technology, information technology, music, and fine arts are elective subjects at high school level. Each student can choose 4 out of 9 subjects to study.
Normally, schools only have about 7-8 optional combinations for students from grade 10 to grade 12. Students who choose physics, chemistry, biology often do not choose geography, economic education and law, technology.
According to a survey by Dan Tri reporters at several high schools in Hanoi, almost no candidates chose to take the technology exam. Up to 7 high schools had no candidates choosing to take the technology exam.
Computer science is also very rarely chosen. Of the 11 schools surveyed, no school had more than 20 students taking the computer science exam. Seven schools had less than 5 students choosing the computer science exam.
Therefore, combinations such as math - literature - physics - technology or math - literature - chemistry - geography, math - literature - history - technology, math - literature - geography - technology will be less likely to occur.
Also with the high school graduation exam regulations with 2 compulsory subjects and 2 elective subjects, the university and college admission combinations in 2025 will change significantly with the appearance of many new combinations.
In theory, there will be a total of 81 university and college entrance exam combinations in 2025 as follows:
Some universities have announced new admission combinations for the 2025 admission season. Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has a combination of math - computer science - English, used for admission to Information Technology, Information Security and Data Science.
University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City National University has a combination of math - English - information technology and math - English - economic and legal education.

However, there will be cases where some schools narrow down the admission combinations instead of expanding them. This is to limit the complexity of handling the difference in scores between combinations.
National Economics University is one of them when it is expected to use only 4 combinations instead of 9 combinations as in 2024, including A00 (math, physics, chemistry), A01 (math, physics, English), D01 (math, literature, English) and D07 (math, chemistry, English). The admission combinations have no difference in scores, no additional criteria and all subjects are calculated with a coefficient of 1.
The 2025 high school graduation exam is scheduled to take place on June 26-27, 2025. This is the first high school graduation exam under the 2018 general education program.
