Meritorious Artist Bui Cong Duy - a rare talent of Vietnamese music

Bui Cong Duy was once a young talent of Vietnamese music with many major international awards, including First Prize - Gold Medal at the Tchaikovsky International Music Competition for Young Artists in 1997.
Graduated from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Russia), Bui Cong Duy is the first foreigner to occupy a position in the world-famous Virtuuse Moscow string orchestra.
He and his wife, pianist Trinh Huong (daughter of musician Phu Quang), returned to work in Vietnam when their overseas careers were flourishing. The couple taught at the Vietnam National Academy of Music and performed in major concerts.
Bui Cong Duy currently holds a PhD degree and has been the Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music since 2017. He is the youngest Deputy Director in the nearly 70-year history of this school.
In April 2023, Bui Cong Duy was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of the Kazakhstan National University of Arts. Kazakhstan's music scene inherits the quintessence of Soviet music, so it is very high-level and unique. This is a great honor for Bui Cong Duy and the entire Vietnam National Academy of Music.

Meritorious Artist Bui Cong Duy has trained many students who have won high prizes in competitions such as Hoang Ho Khanh Van and Nguyen Nguyen Le. In particular, Tran Le Quang Tien - his student - has excellently entered the semi-finals of 15 contestants, ranked 8th and won the Diploma Special Prize - Special Prize for the best performer of modern works at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Astana - Kazakhstan in 2017.

Meritorious Artist Duc Long was born in 1960 in Quang Ninh. He had a difficult childhood, becoming an orphan at the age of 8. Life was hard, he had to do many jobs to make a living such as making bricks for hire, pulling carts, carrying goods...
Duc Long came to music from the mass arts movement when he was a worker at the Hon Gai coal factory. His job was to perform all year round to serve and encourage the spirit of the mine workers.
In 1982, he decided to go to Hanoi, work at the Air Force Song and Dance Troupe, and study at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. During this time, he studied and participated in tours to serve the people and soldiers from Vi Xuyen to the Central Highlands...
After that, Duc Long joined the Song and Dance Troupe of the General Department of Politics, Ministry of National Defense and finally stopped at the Vietnam Music and Dance Theater.
In 1995, in the first National Chamber Opera Singing Competition, artist Duc Long won the “Best Vietnamese Song Singer” Award with the work Lo River Epic . In 1999, he continued to win the Gold Medal at the National Professional Music and Dance Festival in the folk music genre.

Meritorious Artist Ha Thuy was born in Lao Cai town. At the age of 17, she was selected to join the Army Song and Dance Troupe. At the same time, Ha Thuy received an admission notice to Hanoi Pedagogical University. However, with her passion for music, she decided to start a singing career.
When she joined the Army Song and Dance Troupe, Ha Thuy tried very hard to study. She passed the entrance exam to the Army Art College and always got excellent scores in all subjects. After graduating, she took the entrance exam to the Hanoi Conservatory of Music and was sent to study full-time, specializing in Vocal Music.
In 1982, she won second prize in the professional solo singing contest organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the song "Mother's Song" .
