Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital said it had examined and treated 28 primary school students who showed signs of poisoning after drinking a strange substance, suspected to be rat poison.
According to information from Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital, at around 5:00 p.m. on January 21 and early morning on January 22, the hospital received and treated 5 cases of suspected poisoning from students of Phu Lam Primary School (Tuyen Quang City).
Students had symptoms of fatigue, nausea, vomiting yellow fluid, dull abdominal pain around the navel, some patients had convulsions...
According to the story, before that, at around 2:00 p.m. on January 21, students picked up tubes containing a pink solution (suspected to be rat poison), then shared it with their friends to drink.
On the morning of January 22, Tuyen Quang General Hospital received 23 more cases who had contact with the above cases of taking the drug. Because the families were not reassured, they took the children to the hospital for examination. For peace of mind, the families requested to transfer the children to the Central Hospital for monitoring.
As of 7:00 a.m. on January 23, 23 patients were transferred to Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi) for examination and monitoring, and 5 patients were transferred to the National Children's Hospital for continued treatment.
After the incident, the Tuyen Quang Provincial Department of Health directed specialized agencies to quickly clarify the cause of this suspected food poisoning. Up to now, the health of the patients has stabilized and they are continuing to be monitored and cared for at hospitals.
