On March 16, Tien Giang Provincial Police coordinated with the Provincial People's Procuracy to conduct a crime scene investigation and determine the coordinates of 16 vehicles violating illegal mineral exploitation, transportation, and trading activities on the Tien River.

Previously, on March 10, the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control C05 - Ministry of Public Security inspected, discovered and arrested 16 vehicles illegally pumping sand and transporting sand of unknown origin on Tien River, the section bordering the waters of Tien Giang and Vinh Long.
At the time of the arrest, there were 23 people on the barges residing in many localities. Of the 16 barges, 2 were transporting sand, 3 were illegally mining sand, 5 were anchored and the remaining 6 were approaching the shore to transfer sand.
The total volume of sand that the barges violated was determined to be nearly 980m3.
Department C05 is coordinating with the police to expand the investigation, search for and summon those involved in the violations; at the same time verifying the yards and constructions consuming sand from illegal exploitation to strictly handle them according to the provisions of law.
