Along with the process of industrialization and modernization, the demand for electricity for production is increasing day by day. With the support of the electricity industry, in recent years, Yen Lac district has focused on investing in modernization from the transmission to distribution of electricity, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development, contributing to ensuring energy security.

To ensure the socio-economic development goals of the district, the District Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of Yen Lac district clearly identify the role and importance of developing long-term sustainable energy sources.
Accordingly, the district regularly directs specialized agencies, People's Committees of communes, towns and related agencies in planning construction, reviewing and adjusting updated planning projects, supplementing planning of power lines and transformer stations, creating a premise for investment. Creating conditions for the electricity industry to invest in modernization from transmission to distribution.
Currently, Yen Lac district is supplied with electricity from 7 high-voltage transformer stations. The medium-voltage grid consists of 28 medium-voltage lines of 22kV and 35kV with a total length of 241.84 km of overhead lines and 25.77 km of underground cables. In addition, there are 364 transformer stations and 488.47 km of low-voltage lines. The grid system is connected to neighboring areas, creating convenience and flexibility in receiving national grid power.
Notably, in recent times, the electricity industry has digitized all electricity purchase and sale contracts and replaced conventional electronic meters with remote electronic meters capable of controlling parameters such as: Electricity consumption, capacity, current, voltage, helping to control electricity demand and forecast electricity demand of electricity customers, avoiding shortages of electricity supply.
Up to now, the power grid infrastructure system in Yen Lac district has been invested and built relatively synchronously from transmission to distribution. The district's commercial electricity in 2024 will reach 427,887 million kWh, an increase of 4.9% compared to 2023, an increase of 20.6% compared to 2020.
Ensuring adequate energy supply and meeting the socio-economic development goals of Yen Lac district. The rate of electricity loss is also gradually reduced over the years (2020: 1.94%; 2021: 1.65%; 2022: 1.89%; 2023: 1.80%; 2024: 1.66%);). Annually, saving an average of 2% of the total electricity consumption in the entire Yen Lac district.
In addition to the investment interest of the electricity industry, the People's Committee of Yen Lac district has disseminated the implementation of Decree No. 135 dated October 22, 2024 of the Government regulating mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power to agencies, units, organizations and individuals in the area.
Currently, in the district, there are a number of households investing in the construction of rooftop solar power plants for self-production and self-consumption on a household scale, thereby contributing to self-sufficiency in electricity, helping to stabilize and ensure electricity in the district. Yen Lac Electricity is currently managing 21 units investing in the construction of rooftop solar power plants with a total capacity of 205.05kWp, the output in 2024 to the grid is 120,894 kWh.
Along with the development of the economy and society, the demand for electricity is increasing. To ensure sufficient electricity supply in the coming period, in 2025, Yen Lac Electricity will invest in the construction of 7 distribution substations with a medium voltage line length of 2.836km and a low voltage line length of 0.452km.
In addition, the Northern Power Corporation is studying and preparing investment policy documents for the Yen Lac 2 110kV substation project and Vinh Phuc province branch, the Nam Binh Xuyen 2 110kV transmission line and substation project, and the Vinh Yen - Vinh Tuong - Viet Tri 110kV transmission line renovation project.
Accompanying the electricity sector, Yen Lac District People's Committee continues to direct specialized agencies and People's Committees of communes and towns to propagate to people and organizations in the district to join hands in implementing mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power according to Decree No. 135 dated April 22, 2024 of the Government.
At the same time, continue to call for investors interested in investing in waste-to-energy plants in the district to diversify energy sources in the district, contributing to ensuring energy security for sustainable socio-economic development of the district and province.
