In the first 8 months of 2023, Vietnam's cement and clinker exports decreased in both volume and value. In the first 10 months of the year, cement and clinker exports brought in 1.125 billion USD.

According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's clinker and cement exports in October reached more than 2.66 million tons, earning more than 110 million USD, up 16.3% in volume and 18.1% in value compared to September 2023.

In the first 10 months of the year, our country exported more than 26 million tons of clinker and cement, earning more than 1.12 billion USD, a slight increase of 0.6% in output but a decrease of 2.2% in value compared to the same period in 2023.

Clinker and cement are among Vietnam's billion-dollar products. According to the 2022 announcement of the US Geological Survey, Vietnam's cement production capacity is about 100 million tons, ranking 3rd in the world. China is the country with the largest cement production capacity in the world. The 5 countries with the largest cement production scale in the world include: China, India, Vietnam, the US and Türkiye.

By the end of October, the Philippines imported 6.9 million tons of clinker and cement from Vietnam, earning more than 308 million USD, a slight increase of 5% in volume and a decrease of nearly 1% over the same period. The average export price reached 44 USD/ton, equivalent to the same period last year.

Bangladesh ranked second with 4.9 million tons as of October, worth more than 184 million USD, up sharply by 75% in volume and 61% in value over the same period last year with an average export price of 37 USD/ton, equivalent to the previous year.

Malaysia ranked 3rd with more than 1.4 million tons, worth more than 57 million USD, up 81% in volume and 67% in value over the same period in 2022. The average export price reached 40 USD/ton.

Cement and clinker exports will continue to face difficulties in the coming time as the construction demand of the main market, China, remains sluggish. Although China has reopened, its real estate market has not yet recovered, leading to difficulties in Vietnam's cement and clinker exports. The total foreign currency value earned from cement and clinker exports in 2022 reached 1.36 billion USD, down 398 million USD compared to 2021.
