At the same time, the conference also contributes to encouraging the spirit and determination to fulfill the tasks of functional forces and people in border localities in protecting and managing the land border.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vu Thanh Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, affirmed that Vietnam and Laos are two close neighbors, with a special friendship that has been closely linked throughout the history of building and defending the country of the two nations, and are steadfast in the goal of national independence and socialism. In recent years, the border situation between the two countries has been maintained and ensured stability.
The functional forces of the two countries regularly exchange, grasp information, and coordinate to resolve border issues promptly and effectively, such as: preventing and promptly handling violations of border regulations, preventing and combating cross-border crimes, especially drug crimes, inciting, luring and illegally crossing the border; protecting environmental resources in border areas; promoting cooperation in developing border gates to better serve the management, control of border crossings and socio-economic development in the Vietnam - Laos border area.
The Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized that the current situation in the world and the region continues to develop rapidly and complicatedly; the trend of peace, cooperation and development is facing many challenges. In the country, the political, economic and social situation is stable; the foreign affairs of the Party, the State and people-to-people diplomacy continue to be maintained and promoted; the prestige and position of the country are constantly improving.
In addition, hostile forces continue to thoroughly exploit issues of national border sovereignty, ethnicity, and religion to propagate distortions and fabrications to sabotage Vietnam and divide the traditional friendship between Vietnam and neighboring countries.
In that context, all levels, sectors and localities in border areas need to continue to innovate and diversify the content and forms of propaganda, increase the application of information technology, digital transformation, focus on propaganda in the languages of ethnic groups living in border areas and foreign propaganda on border work on land. Innovate methods of participating in building a strong, comprehensive and in-depth border, especially in grasping the local situation; promote the mass movement to protect border lines and landmarks.
At the same time, further promote the positive results achieved in implementing tasks, ensuring coordination between forces in propaganda and education work is close, timely, multi-dimensional and comprehensive.
At the Conference, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Border Guard Command focused on discussing the contents of territorial border work, making practical contributions to building and protecting the country on the Vietnam - Laos land border; Practices and experiences in handling issues arising in national border management on the Vietnam - Laos land border by the Border Guard force; Directions for developing border trade on the Vietnam - Laos land border.
At the Conference, Quang Nam Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet informed that Quang Nam has a land border adjacent to Sekong province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, over 157 km long, with 60 landmarks and 7 markers belonging to 2 districts of Nam Giang and Tay Giang, with 14 communes, 71 villages, 6,527 households, 25,077 people, mainly Co Tu and Gie Trieng people.
Over the past years, the management of land borders has always been of interest to all levels and sectors of the province and has achieved many important results. Quang Nam province and Sekong province (Laos) have effectively implemented the model of "twinning villages on both sides of the border". Through this special people-to-people exchange activity, the communities on both sides of the border not only have the opportunity to build and strengthen close and familiar relationships but also can share and help each other in socio-economic development.
“In the coming time, Quang Nam will continue to do a good job in managing the land border, building a peaceful and friendly border with Sekong province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, contributing with the whole country to maintain the territory and border that our ancestors and generations have worked hard to build. Continue to synchronously implement solutions to develop the socio-economy, ensure national defense and security, contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of the people of the two border districts of Nam Giang and Tay Giang” - Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee said.
