Asian Games 19 shooting gold medalist Pham Quang Huy surpassed many excellent athletes to win the title of National Outstanding Athlete 2023.
Shooter Pham Quang Huy scored 985 points after winning the first gold medal for Vietnam at the Asian Games, in the men's 10m air pistol event. In addition, Quang Huy also won two bronze medals in the men's 10m air pistol team event at the 19th Asian Games and the 2023 Asian Championship.
The athlete born in 1996 has become the new star of Vietnamese shooting, a student of 2016 Olympic champion Hoang Xuan Vinh. Quang Huy is the eldest son in a family of two brothers of the famous Vietnamese shooting couple Pham Cao Son - Dang Thi Hang. Quang Huy's immediate goal is to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Runner Nguyen Thi Oanh came in second place on the list of outstanding athletes with 814 points. The athlete born in 1995 set a record of winning four gold medals at the 32nd SEA Games in the 1,500m, 5,000m, 10,000m and 3,000m women's hurdles. Cyclist Nguyen Thi That came in third with 697 points when she won the gold medal in the Asian Road Cycling Championship, thereby earning a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang ranked fourth with 677 points after winning two bronze medals at the 19th Asian Games in the men's 400m freestyle and 800m freestyle. He won a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 800m freestyle and met the B standard in the 1,500m freestyle. Huy Hoang surpassed his senior Nguyen Thi Anh Vien to become the most successful swimmer at the Asian Games with one silver medal and three bronze medals. In the category of outstanding coaches, Korean shooting expert Park Chung-gun ranked first with 419 points. He contributed to the training of Pham Quang Huy and the overall success of Vietnamese shooting. Following him were women's football team coach Mai Duc Chung (277 points), women's volleyball team coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet (230 points), women's sepak takraw team coach Tran Thi Vui (173 points) and karate coach Nguyen Hoang Ngan (162 points).

The outstanding sports teams are the Vietnamese women's football team with 850 points with the achievement of participating in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The women's volleyball team with two Asian championships has 840 points. The women's Kata karate team and the women's four-person sepak takraw team that won the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games have 675 points each.
Typical disabled athletes are Le Van Cong (Weightlifting, 478 points), Le Tien Dat (Swimming, 465 points), Pham Nguyen Khanh Minh (Athletics, 244 points), Dang Thi Linh Phuong (Weightlifting, 229 points) and Pham Thi Huong (Chess, 197 points).
Typical disabled sports coaches are Mr. Le Quang Thai (Weightlifting, 275 points), Nguyen Dang Vien (Swimming, 259 points) and Bui Quang Vu (Chess, 138 points).
