This is the information given by Chief of Office of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Le Thien Quynh Nhu at the press conference on the afternoon of October 17, on socio-economic issues organized by the Propaganda Department and the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Ms. Le Thien Quynh Nhu, Can Gio district has currently applied AI in remote diagnosis at the Thanh An island commune health station. Specifically, deploying a modern bedside X-ray machine with integrated AI, and a PACS medical archiving and transmission system.
The modern bedside X-ray machine (latest generation) is integrated with AI software, mobilized by the City Health Department and funded by ASIF (Australia Social Impact Foundation). The initial implementation phase has helped detect 95 common abnormalities on chest X-rays in just 10 seconds. After that, the digital images of the X-rays are uploaded to the PACS system, helping young doctors who take turns working at Thanh An island commune consult with leading experts from the city's end-line hospitals to help diagnose and provide the best treatment for patients.
The deployment of modern bedside X-ray machines has brought about the following results: increasing people's access to healthcare at health stations; improving the quality of healthcare services; supporting doctors in reading diagnostic imaging results from chest X-rays and sending images for consultation in necessary situations.
“The Department of Health recognizes that this is an effective model to help islanders receive comprehensive and best possible health care. It meets people’s expectations and trust in the city’s health system and reduces overload at higher levels,” said Ms. Le Thien Quynh Nhu.
