This is the first Data Center (DC) in Vietnam designed with high capacity, twice the average; it is also the first DC in Vietnam committed to using renewable energy to meet 30% of electricity consumption.
On April 10, the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) inaugurated the Viettel Hoa Lac Data Center with a capacity of 30MW, the largest in Vietnam.
This is the first DC in Vietnam designed with high capacity, twice the average level, to meet the development trend of AI with the requirement of high-performance chips, increasing computing capacity. With 60,000 servers; more than 2,400 racks; 21,000m2 of floor space; total power capacity of 30MW, Viettel Hoa Lac DC also becomes the largest DC in Vietnam today. This 14th DC helps Viettel increase the total number of 230,000 servers, 81,000m2 of floor space, 11,500 racks; 87MW of power, equivalent to a super DC in the world. This continues to affirm Viettel's strong commitment to building a modern digital infrastructure in Vietnam.
Viettel Hoa Lac Data Center holds many green certificates such as energy management standards, environmental impact management standards, and occupational hygiene management standards. This is also the first data center committed to using renewable energy to meet 30% of electricity consumption. Here, Viettel has deployed the latest technologies to build a green DC...
“Viettel will continue to invest in DCs. According to the roadmap, by 2025, Viettel will invest and expand its scale to 17,000 racks. By 2030, Viettel will increase its scale to 34,000 racks. Viettel is ready with all conditions to work with Vietnamese enterprises to make cloud computing explode, realizing the aspiration that every citizen, every household, every organization and business will have a place to calculate and store on the cloud safely, flexibly and effectively,” said Viettel Chairman and General Director Tao Duc Thang at the event.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Viettel Hoa Lac DC, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized: “Viettel has included in its development plan at least 3 DCs in the next 2 years with a designed capacity of 240KW, which is 8 times larger than today. I wish Viettel to continue to develop and realize its pioneering mission as a leading digital infrastructure enterprise, a national digital infrastructure enterprise of Vietnam”.
In 2023, Viettel's DCs saved nearly 3,000,000kWh, equivalent to reducing emissions by about 2,100 tons of CO 2 . At all of its DCs, Viettel put into use high-performance UPS, helping to create a higher level of energy efficiency than the industry average.
Viettel currently has the most diverse service ecosystem with more than 70 products and services including 5 groups: cloud computing infrastructure, cloud computing platform, cloud computing application, consulting, deployment and operation, Colocation. Viettel is also a pioneer in applying flexible billing models by hour, by minute, by application for customers in Vietnam, and is the first unit to let customers choose between virtualization platforms. Viettel's Cloud system helps businesses become flexible in terms of digital infrastructure, expanding when needed.
Viettel has applied modern technologies including open source OpenStack, Kubernetes... with the latest and most stable deployment versions, supporting the community and technology organizations to flexibly use business operations, ready to meet future needs. Viettel's DCs are guaranteed the highest physical security with 5 layers and are monitored for information security 24/7.
