Viettel expands fiber optic cable export market to North America and Europe

At the 2024 International Defense Exhibition, Viettel Equipment Manufacturing Corporation (VMC) and Network Cable Co., Ltd. (NWC) - Korea signed a cooperation agreement and framework contract, committing to develop together in the field of fiber optic cables and telecommunications accessories. Previously, NWC directly worked with VMC many times, expressed confidence in VMC's research and production capacity and decided to choose Viettel as the first unit in Vietnam for long-term cooperation. According to NWC's assessment, VMC's geographical location and current capacity are suitable in the context of many fluctuations in the global supply chain, markets such as North America and Europe have high requirements on the origin of imported products. In particular, with the current trend of telecommunications networks switching to 5G. According to the signed contract, VMC will produce and supply from 60,000 to 100,000km of various types of optical cables per year (equivalent to revenue from 4 to 7 million USD per year) for defense and civilian purposes, “tailored” to customer needs in North America and Europe. The two sides also discussed developing new products in the field of telecommunications accessories to meet market needs.

With 3 Points Aviation, VMC will have the first two orders for processing and surface treatment of precision mechanical parts for civil aviation in Canada. The cooperation agreement with ABE and 3 Points Aviation is an important step for Viettel in its goal of representing Vietnam to become a Tier 1 supplier (providing products directly in the supply chain) for the world's leading corporations such as Airbus, Safran, Boeing, and expanding its business capacity to major markets in Europe and America.
