At the Conference, Mr. Chu Dinh Dong - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Party Committee of the Central Enterprises Bloc announced Decision No. 2039 -QD/DUK, dated July 26, 2024 of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Central Enterprises Bloc on approving Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Deputy Secretary in charge of the Party Committee, Member of the Board of Directors, General Director of Vietcombank to hold the position of Secretary of the Vietcombank Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
Based on the approval of the State Bank of Vietnam and the Party Committee of the Central Enterprises Bloc, on July 26, 2024, the Board of Directors of Vietcombank elected Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Member of the Board of Directors and General Director of Vietcombank to hold the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietcombank, term 2023-2028, and assigned the responsibility of the Executive Board to Deputy General Director Le Quang Vinh.

Speaking at the Conference, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Central Enterprises Bloc, Comrade Nguyen Long Hai - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Enterprises Bloc congratulated the Vietcombank Party Committee and congratulated Comrade Nguyen Thanh Tung for being trusted by the Party and the State Bank of Vietnam to take on the important responsibility of Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietcombank - the leader, continuing to lead Vietcombank in a new period.
Acknowledging and appreciating the Vietcombank Party Committee, Comrade Nguyen Long Hai affirmed: Over the years, the most important success is that Vietcombank has continuously developed, grown and always maintained its position as the best, safest and most effective bank, making positive contributions to the economy, especially in supporting business operations, funding key national projects and contributing to increasing revenue for the State budget.
In the context of the world's political economy and security, which has had a great impact on the country's economy, is very complicated, very unpredictable, and beyond forecast, the Vietcombank Party Committee has been an outstanding and typical Party Committee for many years; becoming a Party Committee of the entire system, with many conditions to comprehensively implement the Party's leadership methods, synchronously, centrally, and uniformly in all affiliated units... That success comes from the attention and direction of the Party and State leaders at all levels, the direction and management of the State Bank of Vietnam, the trust and coordination of other entities in the economy. However, it is certainly due to the initiative, efforts, striving to rise up and affirmation of the Vietcombank staff, most clearly converging the Party Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, the Standing Party Committee, the collective leadership, especially the two positions considered to be the key of the key: Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Deputy Secretary, General Director.
The Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Enterprises Bloc assessed: Comrade Nguyen Thanh Tung is a fundamentally trained cadre, has been with Vietcombank for 27 years (since 1997), has held many positions, and has achieved specific work results. Since being assigned to be in charge of the Executive Board and General Director, he has demonstrated confidence, demonstrated his ability and experience in management, administration, and system operation, and coordinated well with the key leadership team. As a commercial bank with a history of formation and development of over 60 years, playing a key role in the banking system in Vietnam, the consolidation of the highest-level personnel is an important factor contributing to consolidating the role and position of Vietcombank, creating a foundation for the development of the Bank in the new period.
Within the framework of the Conference program, the Organizing Committee also performed high-level commendation ceremonies. Accordingly, the representative of the Department of Organization and Personnel, State Bank of Vietnam announced the commendation decisions: Awarding the Government's Emulation Flag to the South Saigon Branch for excellently and comprehensively completing its tasks, leading the patriotic emulation movement in 2023 of the Banking industry ; Awarding the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to 01 collective and 01 individual, who have achieved achievements in work, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland ; Awarding the Emulation Flag of the State Bank of Vietnam to 11 collectives and individuals, who have achieved outstanding achievements , leading the emulation movement of the Banking industry in 2023.
