Vietnam and Azerbaijan strengthen friendly and cooperative relations

On August 23, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received Mr. Elchin Amirbayov at the Presidential Palace. At the meeting, the Vice President thanked Azerbaijan for its sincere assistance to Vietnam in the struggle for national independence, as well as in the country’s construction and development.

Expressing her delight at the positive development of bilateral relations in recent times, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan said that the two sides maintain exchanges of delegations at all levels and bilateral mechanisms, contributing to promoting cooperation in many fields.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan hopes that the two sides will continue to promote effective cooperation in all fields, especially culture and people-to-people exchange.

The Vice President said that the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Committee on economic-trade and scientific-technological cooperation will soon review and consider establishing a number of additional mechanisms to promote bilateral cooperation.

The Vice President also hoped that the two countries would support each other at the United Nations and regional multilateral forums. According to the Vice President, Vietnam is ready to support Azerbaijan in becoming a member of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia…

Reviewing the milestones in the relationship between the two countries, Mr. Elchin Amirbayov said that 2024 marks the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Azerbaijan.

According to Mr. Elchin Amirbayov, Azerbaijan's desire to strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture, etc., still has a lot of room.

In the field of education, thousands of Vietnamese students have studied in Azerbaijan, not only being the core force of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association but also a bridge of friendship between the two peoples.

Mr. Elchin Amirbayov said that Azerbaijan considers Asia a top priority in its foreign policy, attaches importance to relations with ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, and hopes that Vietnam will support Azerbaijan in becoming a member of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.

At the meeting, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Mr. Elchin Amirbayov discussed and agreed on directions for cooperation between the two countries in the coming time in the fields of politics-diplomacy, economics, trade, education, experience exchange, methods of handling bombs, mines, explosives, etc., as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern.
