On the afternoon of June 25, at the Government headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang received Vice Chairman of the Chinese State Ethnic Committee Bian Ba Tra Xi.
At the reception, the Deputy Prime Minister welcomed Vice Chairman of the State Ethnic Committee of China Bian Bazha Xi to visit Vietnam, believing that the visit will contribute to promoting the good relationship between the two countries; contributing to concretizing the agreements and commitments of the two sides' senior leaders in recent times.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Vietnam-China relationship has never been as good as it is now and both countries are making efforts to take positive and practical actions to implement high-level agreements. Vietnam is actively preparing for the meeting of the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee, scheduled to be held in Beijing in September 2024.
Regarding ethnic affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the State Ethnic Committee of China and the Ethnic Committee of Vietnam coordinate to organize more frequent exchanges and share experiences on issues of mutual concern such as policy making and resource mobilization to care for ethnic minorities.
The Deputy Prime Minister also suggested that the Ethnic Committees of the two countries promote exchanges between ethnic minorities in the border areas of the two countries, thereby contributing to consolidating and promoting the relationship between the two Parties, the two countries and between the ethnic minorities of the two nations.

Vice Chairman of the State Ethnic Committee of China Bian Bazha Xi thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for taking the time to meet him during his first visit to Vietnam; affirmed that he will make efforts to concretize the cooperative relationship on ethnic work between the two Ethnic Committees of the two countries.
Vietnam currently has 54 ethnic groups while China has 26. The two Parties and States of Vietnam and China both attach great importance to ethnic work; the lives of ethnic minority people are increasingly improved; the work of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities is of interest, investment and development; the relationship between ethnic groups in society in Vietnam and China is good.
In recent times, the Vietnam Nationalities Committee and the Chinese State Ethnic Committee have had many exchange and cooperation activities, notably the signing of the Cooperation Agreement on Ethnic Work by the two sides in December 2023.
The two sides expressed their belief that through open exchanges and dialogues, the cooperative relationship in ethnic affairs between the two countries will continue to develop well in the future.
