According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, footwear exports of all kinds in February earned more than 1.17 billion USD, down 40.3% compared to January. In the first two months of the year, footwear exports of all kinds earned more than 3.1 billion USD, up 13.8% over the same period.

In the first two months of the year, although the turnover decreased compared to the previous month, the bright spot of the footwear industry was that the main export markets all increased imports with a growth rate of over 10%. Specifically, in the first two months of 2024, our country exported the most footwear to the US market with a turnover of 1.1 billion USD, up 25% over the same period last year, accounting for 35%.
The second largest market is China with over 318 million USD, up 11.4% over the same period. Belgium is the third largest market for Vietnamese footwear with over 191 million USD, up 10% over the same period last year.
According to the "Development Strategy of Vietnam's Textile, Garment and Footwear Industry to 2030, Vision to 2035", Vietnam strives for the export turnover of the footwear industry to reach 27 - 28 billion USD by 2025 and 38 - 39 billion USD by 2030. Vietnam's footwear exports are forecast to grow by 10 - 12% per year in the period 2022 - 2026. Our country is also considered a prestigious market in the production of footwear products, especially sports shoes according to major brands.
A new trend that is gaining strong attention in the global footwear market is environmentally friendly footwear. Realizing the importance of environmental protection and social responsibility, Vietnamese consumers are increasingly interested in sustainable products. Footwear products are no exception. A series of major brands are actively investing in the sustainable trend, contributing to promoting consumers' shopping interest. Shoes made from recycled and natural materials are becoming increasingly popular.
To support businesses in boosting exports, in 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will carry out large-scale trade promotion activities, at national and international levels, especially in export industries and sectors with strengths; typically the 33rd Vietnam International Trade Fair (Vietnam Expo 2024); International Fair of Industrial Products Supply Chains in 2024...; at the same time, continue to innovate and deploy diverse forms of trade promotion to support businesses.
