At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Committee, Head of the Delegation briefly reported on the socio-economic situation and ethnic affairs in A Luoi district. Accordingly, the whole district has 18 commune-level administrative units with a population of over 54 thousand people, of which ethnic minorities account for over 77% of the district's population.
A Luoi district has 84 prestigious people. Under the leadership of Party committees and authorities at all levels, prestigious people among ethnic minorities have done a good job of propagating and mobilizing people to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, and local regulations, building the Great National Unity bloc; promptly exchanging information, reflecting the aspirations of the masses to Party committees and authorities at all levels; calling on and mobilizing people to actively respond to movements.
The team of prestigious people has changed the awareness of ethnic minorities in production and business, rising out of poverty, preserving and promoting traditional cultural identity, and actively participating in maintaining security and order in the locality.
From one of the 74 national poor districts, with a poverty rate of 49.98% at the end of 2021, up to now, the poverty rate of the whole district has decreased to 13.65% and the Prime Minister signed Decision 702/QD-TTg on July 22, 2024 recognizing A Luoi as escaping from the national poor district in 2024. The average income per capita in the locality reached 40.61 million VND/person/year. People have access to essential facilities for education, health care, information, etc.
The work of building new rural areas has been focused on. Up to now, the total number of criteria in the district has reached 256 criteria/17 communes, an average of 15.5 criteria/commune, 4 communes have been recognized as meeting new rural standards and 12 villages in extremely difficult communes have been recognized as meeting new rural standards.
In the intimate atmosphere of the meeting, the delegates of the Prestigious People of A Luoi district expressed their joy at visiting the capital Hanoi and being welcomed at the Committee for Ethnic Minorities. The delegates expressed their gratitude to the leaders of the Party and State, especially the Committee for Ethnic Minorities, for their attention to the ethnic minority and mountainous areas, with correct and appropriate ethnic policies.
Delegates hope that the Party, State and Committee for Ethnic Minorities will continue to pay attention to and implement policies for ethnic minorities, while also demonstrating determination and efforts to fulfill their roles in all areas of social life in ethnic minority areas.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Ha, Deputy Head of the Department of Ethnic Minorities, acknowledged and commended the good deeds of the team of Prestigious People of A Luoi district.
Ms. Ha also hopes that the team of prestigious people in A Luoi district will continue to promote their role as the "core" force in propagating and mobilizing people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws; strive to eliminate customs that are no longer suitable; preserve and promote the values of national cultural identity; regularly coordinate with local authorities in effectively implementing ethnic programs and policies; build and consolidate the Great National Unity bloc, and build A Luoi district to develop more and more.
At the meeting, leaders of departments and units presented souvenirs from the Ethnic Committee to delegates of Prestigious People of A Luoi district.
