Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi expressed the above expectation at a regular press conference.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian called on all parties to "remain calm and restrained, de-escalate the situation through dialogue and consultation, and create conditions for an early ceasefire."

After the test launch, President Putin warned that the Ukraine conflict could turn into a "global" war and did not rule out the possibility of attacking the West.

Beijing claims to be neutral and insists it does not provide weapons to either side. However, members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) see China as a "facilitator" of the conflict due to its alliance with Russia. (AFP)

*Pyongyang warns of nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula: North Korea's state news agency (KCNA) on November 22 quoted leader Kim Jong Un as accusing the US of increasing tensions and provocations, saying that the Korean Peninsula has never faced the risk of nuclear war like it does now.
