Since the evening of June 8, Ukrainian forces have continued their efforts to destroy Russian defenses in the southern regions of Donetsk and Zaporozhye. In a drastic effort to change the situation, Kiev has deployed a large amount of NATO-supplied equipment, including Leopard battle tanks and M113 armored personnel carriers, into the attack.

The heaviest clashes took place in the Orehov region as well as the western Ugledar areas of southern Donetsk. Heavy fighting took place near Nesteryanka, Novodanilovka and Novopokrovka.

Over the past few days, Ukraine’s counterattacks have been unsuccessful as the Russian army has responded fiercely. However, despite heavy losses, the Kiev government has resolutely continued to launch counterattacks.

Ukrainian forces launched a counterattack but were stopped and repelled by Russian troops.

The SF website reported that Ukrainian forces have carried out several attacks in the area around Velikaya Novoselovka and Ugledar. Many sources said that Kiev is actively concentrating its forces in this direction.

The situation in the Bakhmut area remains tense. In the previous days, Ukrainian forces attempted to break through Russian defenses near Berhovka, but failed. On June 7, these efforts continued.

In an official statement, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu informed about the Ukrainian attacks: Today (June 8), at 1:30 a.m. in the Zaporozhye direction, Ukrainian forces attempted to break through the Russian defense line with the forces of the 47th Mechanized Brigade with a force of up to 1,500 soldiers and 150 armored vehicles.

Russian reconnaissance vehicles promptly detected and organized a preemptive attack with artillery, aircraft and anti-tank weapons. The Ukrainian forces were stopped on all four sides and pushed back with heavy losses. After a two-hour battle, the Ukrainian forces lost 30 tanks, 11 infantry fighting vehicles and up to 350 soldiers. Thus, the reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, specially prepared for this breakthrough, failed to fulfill its mission.

Yesterday, June 7, Ukrainian forces lost 945 soldiers, 33 tanks, 28 infantry fighting vehicles, 38 armored fighting vehicles, 3 Krab self-propelled artillery systems and other weapons.

Ukrainian counterattacks suffered heavy losses.

Summing up the developments of the past days, the Kiev government has not been able to achieve any breakthrough in the counterattack in all directions. However, Kiev still has the advantage in the number of manpower mobilized for the conflict. Therefore, Kiev will continue to increase its troops and equipment to further push forward the attacks deep into the Russian defense line, at least in some areas of the front line.
