Commander of the Akhmat special forces, Deputy Director of the Russian military-political directorate, Major General Apti Alaudinov, said that the group of conscripts who were surrounded by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region more than a month ago have been given a safe way to retreat.
Specifically, Russian special forces created a safe route for surrounded soldiers to retreat even though they could not reach this position.
“Of course, if they wanted to abandon their positions and leave, they would have fled. But this is a very important logistics center, so we could not let it fall into the hands of the AFU until the defense line was established. We then evacuated the surrounded troops,” said Gen. Apti Alaudinov.

According to Mr. Alaudinov, all rescued soldiers were examined and transferred to military hospitals in the rear for treatment.
Russian army stops AFU attack in Kursk
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian airborne units have prevented an attempt by the Ukrainian army to break deep into the Kursk region.
Soldiers of the Northern Operational Group attacked AFU units with their equipment. At least 2 tanks and 4 Kozak armored fighting vehicles were destroyed in the border area with the Kursk region of the Russian region.
“Thanks to the confident actions of artillery, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators, anti-tank missile (ATGM) crews and other units, airborne troops prevented an attempt to penetrate deep into our territory,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Foreign mercenaries are present in large numbers in Kursk.
General Alaudinov added that foreign units have been recorded in the ranks of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region in certain areas.
Foreign mercenaries are performing various functions within the AFU, including participating in assault groups. From the very beginning of the offensive, mercenaries joined AFU reconnaissance units in a cross-border attack into the Kursk region because “the operation was organized and prepared by the NATO command.”
“We know that foreign mercenaries are present in Sudzha and some foreign fighters are fighting on the front line,” Apti Alaudinov said.
Special Forces commander Akhmat also added that the AFU is actively attacking in the Kursk region in preparation for Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky’s visit to the United States. “They will try to throw the last resources they have somewhere to show that they can inflict maximum damage on the Russian side,” General Alaudinov said.
Hundreds of Kursk civilians have gone missing since the AFU attack.
The governor of the Kursk region, Alexey Smirnov, reported that hundreds of civilians have disappeared in the region since the AFU began attacking the region. According to Mr. Smirnov, since August 2024, more than 770 reports of missing local residents have been received, among them collective appeals from organizations searching for many missing citizens.
During the liberation of several settlements in the Korenevsky district, 268 people were found, of whom 118 were found by relatives and 101 other residents were discovered by combat units.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that since the AFU attack in the Kursk region, a number of civilians have been taken to an unspecified place outside the Russian territory. Their fate remains unknown.
Ukraine admits Ugledar is endangered
The situation in the strategic city of Ugledar appears to be more critical for Kiev forces, the Military Summary channel reported. The Russian army has successfully formed a three-sided encirclement in the west, east and south directions; at the same time, it has penetrated deeper into the city center. Ukrainian sources report a very tense situation in the city center.
On the Pokrovsk side, the Russian army concentrated on crossing Selidove from the south. The Russian infantry advanced further west of Ukrainsk and gained additional territory in the direction of the village of Tsukuryne.
Following the latest developments towards Toretsk, the AFU blew up the tallest building at the mine to block Russian advances.
The situation in Kupyansk is also getting worse for Ukraine. The RFAF is trying to push further towards the Oskil River. Ukrainian logistics in the area are at risk of being disrupted if Russia gains control of the firepower over the bridge at Senkove.
In the direction of Kursk, the AFU advanced north through Malaya Lokhnya and was probably trying to encircle the Russian forces entrenched in the village.
Russia launches a major offensive on Ugledar
Readovka channel said that Russia has officially launched an attack campaign on Ugledar.
Over the past two years, the Russian army has repeatedly attacked this fortress city, but all have been unsuccessful. The battles in Ugledar have caused Russia to shed blood and suffer heavy losses. However, now there is more and more evidence to confirm that this fortress is about to collapse.
The city of Ugledar is actually in a state of semi-siege, pressure is being exerted from three directions at once: from the northern bank of the Kashlagach River, from the Ugledar country houses and from the South Donbass mines No. 1 and No. 3. The pincers of the Russian army are tightening more and more on the Kiev forces in the "cooker".
