Washington Mystics announced the selection of Truong Thao Vy.

In the WNBA draft, Truong Thao Vy (Kaylynne Truong) was selected by the Washington Mystics in the 21st pick. Thereby, Thao Vy became the first Vietnamese player to participate in the most prestigious women's basketball tournament in the world.

Before coming to professional basketball in the US, Truong Thao Vy showed impressive performance in Gonzaga's jersey at the American College Sports Tournament (NCAA). Especially in the 2023/2024 season, she achieved an average assist rate of 5.8 times/game and a 3-point rate of up to 42.1%. Being selected also helped Truong Thao Vy make history as the first Vietnamese athlete to be selected in a WNBA Draft. She will also officially step into the professional competition path in the US, which has the world's number 1 famous basketball tournament system.

Truong Thao Vy and her twin sister Truong Thao My are two prominent faces of the Vietnamese women's basketball team. The "Truong Twins" were born and raised in the US, but decided to play for the Vietnamese team.

Thao Vy and Thao My were the pillars that helped the Vietnamese women's basketball team win the first-ever Gold Medal at the 32nd SEA Games in the 3x3 event. Previously, this duo helped the Vietnamese women's basketball team win the Silver Medal at home at the 31st SEA Games.

In the recent WNBA selection, Truong Thao My was also a player but was not recruited by any team. However, Thao My can still seek opportunities to play professional basketball in other tournaments.
