From the support fund of 80 million VND, combined with other loans, Mr. Le Tho Truong and his wife have a new, spacious house to settle down.
In mid-2024, his family was surveyed by the local government for support in building a house, but he hesitated to accept because he was worried that he did not have enough strength and did not know where to get more money to do it. However, with encouragement from the government, relatives and neighbors, he decided to borrow more money to build a house. In addition to the State's support funds through support sources with a total cost of 80 million VND, he was determined to borrow from relatives and banks to build a new house.
After more than 3 months of construction, in mid-November 2024, the sturdy flat-roofed house worth 400 million VND was completed. Mr. Truong emotionally said: “Thanks to the State's support, my family has the opportunity to live in a new, beautiful and spacious house like this. From now on, my family will not have to worry every time the rainy season comes.”
According to Mr. Truong, having a new house gives him and his wife more motivation to develop their economy and escape poverty. In addition to farming 2 sao of rice, during the off-season, he finds more work to increase his income. His wife is currently working at a company located right in the district, with an income ranging from 5 to 7 million VND/month. Currently, he and his wife save a few million VND each month. At this rate, it won't be long before the house loans are paid off.
In the same commune, the house of Mr. Le Tho Minh and Mrs. Le Thi Hanh in village 3 received support of 40 million VND (according to Circular 01), and is currently being urgently completed so that the owners can move into their new house in May. Mrs. Le Thi Hanh said: "If the State does not support them, they will live in this dilapidated and unsafe house for the rest of their lives."
It is known that when their names were on the list of people receiving support for building a house, the couple was very happy and excited because the house had been degraded for many years but they did not have the means to rebuild it. However, they were also very worried because in addition to the support from the State, they did not know where to get the remaining money when they were both nearly 80 years old, and their income only depended on 2 sao of rice and 1 cow from the State's livelihood support fund. Therefore, they decided not to receive the support money. However, with encouragement from the government, relatives, support and contributions from their children and grandchildren, they were determined to do it. In early March 2025, their house started construction.
Looking at the new, spacious house that is gradually being completed, Mrs. Hanh excitedly said: "Even in my dreams, I never dared to think that at the end of our lives we would be living in a new, safe house like this."

To complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in 2025 as directed by the province, Mr. Luong Van Nhan, Head of the Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs of Thuong Xuan district, said: "In addition to continuing to promote propaganda and mobilize organizations, individuals and people in the district to join hands in the spirit of "mutual love and support", "the poor help the poor", Thuong Xuan district hopes that the capital allocated by the province and capital from national target programs for poor districts and ethnic minority areas will be allocated promptly. Only then, nearly 700 households in need of support to build new and repair new houses will hope to live in new, safe houses".
