Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that the establishment and development of Duy Tan University has contributed to changing the public-private structure in the university system, changing the face of university education.
Minister Nguyen Kim Son speaks at the 30th anniversary celebration of Duy Tan University and announces the decision to change to Duy Tan University
According to the Minister, our Party and State consider the development of public and non-public higher education institutions to be equal.
The policies and management mechanisms of these two blocks are focusing on quality management combined with inspection, supervision, increasing autonomy, self-accountability and social responsibility.
Duy Tan University leaders received the decision to convert Duy Tan University into Duy Tan University at the 30th anniversary celebration.
The Minister said that for public universities, priority should be given to increasing support for investment resources for development. For non-public universities, priority should be given to strengthening policies to remove difficulties, create conditions, encourage development and integration with advanced universities in the world.
The Minister expressed his hope that with this transformation, Duy Tan University will be operated with a more advanced and scientific management apparatus, on a larger scale, with a broader and longer-term vision, and towards sustainable development.
The Minister noted that the school needs to review its philosophy and development strategy, putting quality first.
According to the Minister, great aspirations for the community have no public or private interests, only vision and commitment at different levels.
“With public schools, there are things that are natural because they are responsibilities in the public system, but with private schools, autonomy and responsibility for human development and national development depend on the choices and hearts of the owners and the school leadership team,” the Minister emphasized.
Duy Tan University was established on November 11, 1994, and is one of the first five private universities in the country. In 2015, the school converted to a private type. In October 2024, the Government issued a decision to convert Duy Tan University into Duy Tan University.
With this decision, Duy Tan University is the first non-public university in Vietnam to be transformed into a university. Previously, our country had 7 universities including: Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.
