Fulbright University Vietnam receives $1.5 million in funding from Google

This grant was announced during a meeting between Mr. Jeff Dean, Vice President and Chief Scientist of Google, head scientist of Google DeepMind & Google Research, and Fulbright students and AI (artificial intelligence) enthusiasts across Vietnam.

The grant will promote the development of cutting-edge AI education programs, including research and scholarships at Fulbright University Vietnam.

As AI continues to transform global industries, Fulbright University Vietnam is proactively preparing with a comprehensive AI strategy to train innovative leaders for the AI ​​future.

Fulbright has plans to enhance AI training in various academic programs, and integrate AI knowledge into non-STEM fields to ensure all students are proactive in the technological advances that shape the future.

The grant from Google will be used to enhance AI education at Fulbright. With the support of strategic partner New Turing Institute - Vietnam's leading AI training, research and startup center, Fulbright will promote initiatives such as: AI teaching; faculty development; research and collaboration; Google scholarships; community outreach.

Mr. Scott Fritzen, President of Fulbright University Vietnam, spoke at the exchange.

To promote AI teaching, Fulbright will integrate AI into all academic programs at the school, develop AI-related majors and minors in undergraduate programs, as well as foundational subjects to help students gain AI application skills.

At the event, Dr. Scott Fritzen, President of Fulbright University Vietnam, emphasized the importance of this cooperation. At the same time, he said that AI is reshaping the world in unprecedented ways.

This support greatly helps Fulbright in integrating AI into academic programs; it is a testament to Fulbright's commitment to training future leaders capable of applying AI to solve global challenges.

Dr. Le Viet Quoc, Distinguished Scientist at Google DeepMind, member of the Board of Trustees of Fulbright University Vietnam, said that Vietnam is well-positioned to exploit AI in economic and social development.

Google is committed to helping workforces and businesses prepare and rapidly adapt to AI trends.

Through this, Dr. Le Viet Quoc believes that Fulbright, with its ability to combine AI science and technology with the spirit of liberal education emphasizing critical thinking and creative problem solving, will create transformative educational programs that benefit Fulbright students and create new models that other universities can learn from.

In addition to the $1.5 million grant to Fulbright University Vietnam for AI research, Google has partnered with the Vietnam National Innovation Center to launch two programs to build an AI-ready workforce, Google AI Essentials, and to accelerate the development and testing of GenAI for local startups with Google for Startups Accelerator SEA Vietnam.
