FPT University and FPT Semiconductor Joint Stock Company established the Semiconductor Microchip Faculty to supplement the high-quality human resources that are lacking in Vietnam.
The Faculty is expected to welcome the first batch of students in 2024 with the orientation of specialized training in microchip design and conducting research for Vietnam's semiconductor microchip industry.
FPT University plans to cooperate with many universities in the US and Taiwan (China) to design programs, curricula and training standards. These are two of the four leading global chip and semiconductor markets, including: the US, Taiwan (China), Japan, and South Korea.
In parallel, the school cooperates with certificate training institutions and businesses in this industry to provide a variety of degrees and certificates from short-term 6-month, 2-year to advanced training programs, second degrees, college, university, and postgraduate.

Last July, the Government assigned ministries and sectors to quickly develop and implement a project to develop human resources for the semiconductor industry by 2030. In particular, Vietnam plans to train about 30,000 - 50,000 human resources and experts for the semiconductor industry.
FPT University considers the opening of the Semiconductor Microchip Faculty an urgent need and an important task in the key human resource planning for Vietnam's semiconductor industry, preparing high-quality human resources for the global market.
Mr. Nguyen Vinh Quang - Director of FPT Semiconductor Company and Acting Head of Semiconductor Microchip Department said that semiconductor is a billion-dollar industry but is "thirsty" for human resources globally. Experts predict that by 2030, the industry will lack one million employees globally when the four markets above do not meet the human resources demand. In Vietnam alone, the number of employees for the semiconductor industry currently only meets less than 20%.
"At that time, the Southeast Asian market, especially Vietnam, has the opportunity to capture this global demand to rise in the rankings in both education and high-quality human resource supply," he added.
On the occasion of opening the first office in Vietnam on September 7, Mr. Wade Cruse - Managing Partner of Southeast Asia of the global management consulting group Bain & Company (USA) also commented that Vietnam has become one of the two leading countries that semiconductor manufacturers in the world consider choosing to invest in the next generation.

Faced with this great opportunity, FPT University wants to create a "launch pad" for young Vietnamese personnel to confidently step out into the world with global competitiveness. The leadership team also believes that this is an opportunity for Vietnam to gradually learn, master technology and design its own national chip lines.
In addition, FPT University has built a model to send Semiconductor students abroad to work in this industry by combining available resources of FPT Semiconductor Company and the system of companies belonging to FPT Group in over 30 countries. From there, young people can learn, accumulate and soon have the capacity to contribute to the comprehensive development of the industry.
