The newspaper affirmed that the visit “is expected to contribute to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two neighbors…consolidating the relationship, in the context that both sides wish to cultivate and build on the basis of traditional brotherly and comradely relations”. According to China Daily, in the current context, under the leadership of the two countries’ leaders, Vietnam and China not only increasingly value their traditional friendship, but also want to bring bilateral relations to a new stage. This will contribute to “promoting peace and stability in the region”. Currently, the two countries are trying to achieve their modernization goals. Therefore, by helping each other, Vietnam and China can strengthen mutual trust and share development benefits on the common journey. Through efforts to deepen economic, trade, investment and infrastructure cooperation, the two countries have reaped many common benefits. China has been Vietnam’s largest trading partner for many consecutive years. On the other hand, Vietnam is China's largest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. In 2022, two-way trade turnover reached 234.92 billion USD. The China Daily also believes that the two countries have great potential for cooperation, through promoting bilateral links, exploiting advantages from close geographical distance and mutual trade advantages, and working together towards establishing a stable and sustainable supply and production chain. In that context, the visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping will strengthen the connectivity of projects, strategies and development initiatives of the two countries.
In fact, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China has gone through many challenges in the past and ups and downs in the present. This has created a constant driving force for the development of bilateral relations. The increasingly vibrant and close exchange activities between the two peoples have continuously consolidated friendship and solidarity, creating a solid foundation for a closer relationship. Emphasizing that the visit takes place in the year the two countries celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, China Daily hopes that the visit will contribute to opening a new chapter in bilateral relations.
