Introducing a new amplifier made by a German high-end audio brand

The new product meets all the requirements of a modern audio amplifier, combining functional versatility with the sound quality for which Burmester is renowned worldwide.

Despite its many digital connectivity features, the sound image is still determined by analog circuit technology. With a warm, full-bodied yet exceptionally detailed and powerful sound, the Burmester 232 realizes the ideal sound of Burmester amplifiers.

The amplifier stage of the Burmester 232 is of very high quality and allows the audio signal to pass through unaffected when interacting with the intelligent volume control. Therefore, negative influences on sound quality are almost eliminated.

Additionally, the transformer - the heart of the system - ensures easy control regardless of which speaker system the 232's Class A/B power amplifier is driving.

Because the two amplifiers in the power supply and transformer are dual-mono, electrical and magnetic interactions between channels are minimized. The separate amplifiers reduce the possibility of crosstalk, i.e. the signal from one channel affecting the other. Each amplifier has its own independent power supply, meaning that the voltage supplied to each channel is kept stable and independent. All this helps to deliver a sharp and stable sonic separation.

The device can be operated as a pure integrated amplifier but is capable of handling digital and analog sources equally.

In addition, the new generation DAC is very flexible in its audio processing capabilities. This DAC converts internal audio streams, such as those from streaming services or Burmester servers, as well as external digital sources at the highest level. It has a sampling rate of up to 768 kHz at 32-bit resolution.

The turntable phono block inherits the phono signal processing from the renowned Burmester 077 Reference Preamplifier and Burmester 100 Phono preamplifier, combining the best of analogue signal processing with the world of digital music.

The Burmester 232 is the first product to feature the German audio brand's new design style. This is expressed through elegant, timeless lines and a more harmonious surface treatment, while still creating a new look for the device.

The amplifier is manufactured with a new control concept (simplifying the operation of a complex and versatile device). This concept combines the Burmester control app with direct operation on the device (HMI) or via remote control. This approach reduces the number of operating steps on the Burmester 232 compared to the previous generation.

A hidden display behind a mirrored glass allows the screen to be completely opaque and hidden when not in use. This design gives the 232's front face a sleek, elegant metallic appearance. The full graphic display allows the Burmester to support a wide range of characters and languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian.

The touch sensors on the front of the device are only visible when needed. In this way, the impact on the overall simple design of the Burmester 232 can be significantly reduced. Combined with the monochrome display and encoder-style knobs, the user can intuitively adjust each operating state and function of the device.

The device also features a new encoder knob that serves as the main control element of the Burmester 232 and is an innovative haptic feedback technology. The haptic feedback is compatible with the corresponding functions. In addition to controlling classic functions such as selecting an input source, adjusting the volume or scrolling through a playlist, the encoder knob also replaces the power switch on the device.

In terms of connectivity and communication standards, the central communication interface of the Burmester 232 is the powerful SBC. It establishes the connection between the network and the device. For this purpose, the computer has Gigabit Lan, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interfaces. A slot in the SBC block is available for future improvements in the Burmester 232's connectivity standards.

If the optional DAC conversion block is used, eARC-equipped devices can also play music via the 232 using an HDMI cable. The USB ports act as audio connections for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android OS or allow music to be played from USB storage media. The SBC's Core Logic Linux app handles all commands and connections, and also manages control via the new Burmester Conduct app.
