Implement activities to connect vocational training institutions with learners and businesses

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - In recent times, the city has identified innovation and improvement of the quality of vocational education as an important, long-term policy and solution, creating a breakthrough in human resource development, especially highly skilled human resources, creating a driving force to promote industrialization and modernization of the city; contributing to the implementation of the city's three main economic pillars: high-tech industry, seaports - logistics, tourism - trade; successfully implementing Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

At the same time, innovation and improvement of the quality of vocational education must be in the direction of meeting the requirements of the labor market; creating close links between state management agencies with enterprises, vocational training institutions and vocational learners to improve training quality; gradually creating an ecosystem of startups and innovation; taking the acceptance of the labor market, employment, and income of workers as a measure of the effectiveness of vocational education; vocational education must be one step ahead in socio-economic development.

Representatives of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs informed about the implementation of the city's Resolutions.

In particular, Resolution No. 14-NQ/TU dated May 13, 2024 of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on innovation and improvement of the quality of vocational education in Hai Phong city by 2030, with a vision to 2045, sets a specific goal by 2030 to strive to attract 50 - 55% of junior high school and high school graduates in Hai Phong city to the vocational education system; attract 2,200 - 2,500 junior high school and high school graduates from other provinces and cities to the vocational education system of Hai Phong city; enroll and train 12,000 students at intermediate and college levels; the proportion of women reaches over 40% of the total new enrollment target; retraining and regular training for about 50% of the workforce...

On July 19, 2024, at the 18th Session, the 16th City People's Council issued Resolution No. 03/2024/NQ-HDND stipulating the policy to support training in a number of occupations in Hai Phong city for the period 2024 - 2030. Including 9 occupations: Logistics, Industrial Electronics, Industrial Electricity, Welding, Automotive Technology, Information Technology (software application), Hotel Management, Nursing, Saltwater and brackishwater aquaculture.

Representatives of vocational training institutions informed about some difficulties and problems in the process of implementing the Resolutions.

Implementing the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the City People's Council, in the past time, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs has coordinated with the Department of Education and Training, and localities to deploy the Resolution to party members and people, especially in the field of education. However, vocational education has not had much attraction, vocational education institutions in the city have encountered many difficulties, especially in the enrollment stage.

Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Cao Lan shared difficulties with vocational training institutions.

Mr. Nguyen Cao Lan, Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, said: In order to meet the enrollment needs of vocational training institutions, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has coordinated with the Department of Education and Training, and localities to prepare to organize a Vocational Education Consulting and Enrollment Day for students and workers in Hai Phong city in 2024, thereby introducing to students and parents the strengths of colleges, vocational secondary schools and vocational training institutions in the city. Thereby connecting supply and demand between learners and schools and connecting with businesses.

In addition to organizing the Recruitment Day, in the coming time, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will organize a conference to connect businesses with labor recruitment needs in the city with vocational training institutions. With the support of the City Economic Zone Management Board, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs believes that the above activities will contribute to meeting the labor needs of businesses, as well as creating conditions for schools to promote their strengths.
