This is the first time director Tran Anh Hung and his wife, actress Tran Nu Yen Khe, and their two children Lang Khe and Cao Phi have returned to Vietnam after he won the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival (France) with the film The Pot au Feu at the end of May.
On this occasion, the male director held seminars and shared about the field of cinema and directing, for young Vietnamese and international directors within the framework of the Autumn Meeting program founded by director Phan Dang Di and maintained for the past 10 years.
At the closing ceremony, director Tran Anh Hung personally presented certificates of participation to the students. This year, there were about 16 young filmmakers participating in Autumn Meeting , including Vietnamese students and students from Cambodia, Thailand, China, France...

One of this year’s students is Uisenmar Borchu, a German-Mongolian student whose feature film was selected for the Berlin Film Festival. She is also a female director who is very familiar with Autumn Meeting , having screened and attended forums on women filmmakers in previous seasons.
Attending the closing ceremony, Ms. Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, also expressed her excitement and emotion. She affirmed that the agencies and departments in Ho Chi Minh City will fully support and help to maintain film activities such as Autumn Meeting in the future.
"I also want to thank the staff at Autumn Meeting for persistently nurturing young talents over the past 10 years. You have nurtured the love of cinema and given wings to Vietnamese talents," said Ms. Thuy.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City also said that in April 2024, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City plans to organize the first Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival. She hopes that director Tran Anh Hung will attend this event as Honorary Artistic Director.
"Although director Tran Anh Hung's time is extremely limited, I hope that with his love for cinema and art over the years, director Tran Anh Hung will accompany the film festival," said Ms. Thanh Thuy.
In response to the sharing of the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, director Tran Anh Hung sent his thanks. Those present at the closing ceremony also applauded enthusiastically.
Tran Anh Hung was born in 1962 in Da Nang, then moved to France. He studied at the prestigious École Louis-Lumière film school and graduated with the short film The Woman of Nam Xuong (La Femme Mariée de Nam Xuong) , inspired by a literary work.
In 1993, Tran Anh Hung's The Scent of Green Papaya received an Oscar nomination in the category of Best Foreign Language Film.
To date, this is still the only Vietnamese-language film to compete in the final round of the world's most prestigious film awards.
