Ho Chi Minh City awarded Vo Truong Toan Prize to 50 teachers

Effort from the heart

On the morning of November 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day, honor outstanding teachers and present the Vo Truong Toan Award in 2024.

The Vo Truong Toan Award is an award of the education and training sector of Ho Chi Minh City, organized by the Department of Education and Training of the city and the Saigon Giai Phong newspaper. The award is given to teachers who have made many positive contributions to the cause of "growing people"; teachers who are not only trusted by parents and students but also respected by their colleagues.

At the ceremony, Ms. Dinh Lan Phuong, a teacher at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Special School - one of 50 teachers receiving the Vo Truong Toan Award this year, made the audience silent when she shared:

"If I have a message to send to young colleagues who have been and are entering the path of teaching special children, I would like to say that this job requires a lot of effort from the heart and patience of the teacher.

There will be times when you feel exhausted, worried or helpless before the slow progress of the students. But just seeing a little progress of the students - even the smallest progress - is a great motivation that makes me more confident in my job. Because we are not only the ones who impart knowledge. We are also the ones who sow faith, give hope, open a world full of love for the students."

Hope teachers continue to inspire

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council - emphasized: "Among thousands of teachers who have been and are working in Ho Chi Minh City, each person has contributed in their own way to the cause of education and training. Many teachers have overcome difficulties to rise up, being shining examples of ethics, dedication and sacrifice for the profession.

There are teachers who have devoted their youth, persistently and steadfastly, to working with students with disabilities. In addition, there are security guards, medical staff, or other indirect departments in educational institutions who are still trying to do their best every day to fulfill their responsibilities for the common cause of education, for the future of future generations. Each of the individuals I just mentioned deserves to be honored.

As for the teachers who were awarded the title of Excellent Teacher and the teachers who won the Vo Truong Toan Award, the city leaders hope that the teachers will continue to inspire, ignite the flame of creative passion on the podium, and arouse the desire to contribute to generations of students and colleagues."

Encourage teachers to debate

This year is the first year that two teachers who are heads of the Department of Education and Training have received the Vo Truong Toan Award. They are Mr. Trinh Vinh Thanh - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Go Vap District, and Ms. Le Thi Oanh, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nha Be District.

Among them, Mr. Trinh Vinh Thanh is famous for being straightforward, daring to think, daring to do. "At the Go Vap District Education Department, I encourage my colleagues to regularly debate and practice grassroots democracy in the true sense, not just for show.

I believe that "a wild horse is a good horse", and those who dare to argue are those who have the qualifications, courage, thinking and ability to express themselves. By accepting feedback, managers can go deeper and closer to the practical issues of education" - Mr. Thanh affirmed.
