In order to ensure food safety for people during the Lunar New Year and the 2025 Spring Festival season, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety has just implemented a plan to strictly control everything from production, business to consumption.

The plan will be implemented from now until March 25, 2025 throughout the city, focusing on inspection, monitoring and communication activities, with the goal: Food safety is a top priority, especially in the current context.

Accordingly, the plan focuses on three key factors: Ensuring food safety throughout the entire supply chain, from production, processing, trading to the dining table; Strengthening control and preventing the circulation of fake, poor quality, and unknown origin food; Proactively preventing food poisoning incidents by raising public awareness, closely inspecting, monitoring, and strictly handling violations.

Communication activities are promoted in many forms such as: disseminating legal knowledge, coordinating with the press to propagate, publicize violations, commend typical examples... to raise public awareness of food safety.

According to the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety, this inspection will be carried out vigorously with interdisciplinary inspection teams from the city to the grassroots level.

"The focus of inspection is on product groups consumed a lot during Tet such as meat, beer, wine, soft drinks, candy..., food service establishments, wholesale markets, supermarkets, craft villages...

In particular, the authorities will strictly inspect smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and poor quality goods," the agency emphasized.

The Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Department calls on people to raise their awareness and choose safe food with clear origins.

Consumers need to actively participate in monitoring, detecting and reporting food safety violations.

Accordingly, during the inspection process, the authorities will coordinate to do a good job of propaganda and education on food safety laws, raising awareness and consciousness of the community in ensuring food safety.

The implementation of inspections before, during, and after Tet and the 2025 Spring Festival season will be on schedule, under the direction of the City's Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety.
