On December 27, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee reported to the Ministry of Education and Training on the implementation of Resolution No. 35/2019/NQ-HDTP of the Government on strengthening the mobilization of social resources for investment in education and training development in the 2019-2025 period. This included a plan to call for investment capital for building schools.
Specifically, from now to 2025, Ho Chi Minh City has 110 school construction investment projects with about 2,638 classrooms at preschool, primary, secondary and high school levels that need to call for investment capital in the form of socialization, stimulus loans and public-private partnership (PPP). Depending on the level and nature, each project has an investment capital call of 100-500 billion VND.
According to the report of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, of the 110 projects, about 50% of the school construction projects are located in Binh Tan District. The remaining projects are located in districts such as: District 7, 8, 12, Go Vap, Binh Chanh District, Thu Duc City. The implementation of the above 110 projects, according to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, is aimed at contributing to improving the quality of education, building a modern and integrated advanced school model, meeting the learning needs of students and the requirements of society.
In particular, the above projects also aim to meet the urgent need for schools in the district and complete the school targets set by the Resolution of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term on implementing the target of 300 classrooms/10,000 school-age people. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has achieved about 294 classrooms/10,000 school-age people.
