The General Secretary assessed that the visit of Comrade Thongsavanh Phomvihane was of utmost importance, and was an opportunity for both sides to best prepare for visits by senior leaders in the coming time.

On the afternoon of February 13, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Comrade Thongsavanh Phomvihane, member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, as Head of the delegation on an official visit to Vietnam.

At the meeting, General Secretary To Lam congratulated Thongsavanh Phomvihane on his appointment as Lao Foreign Minister; congratulated Laos on its important achievements in recent times, especially political stability, consolidated national defense and security, positive socio-economic development, and enhanced foreign affairs, contributing to enhancing Laos' role and position in the region and the international arena.

General Secretary To Lam assessed that the official visit of Comrade Thongsavanh Phomvihane was of utmost importance, an opportunity for the two sides to exchange and best prepare for the visits of the two countries' senior leaders in the coming time, further deepening the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos in general and the close cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs in particular.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his delight at the increasingly strong development of Vietnam-Laos relations in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the people of each country; affirmed that Vietnam will forever work with Laos to preserve and nurture this great relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation to become increasingly deeper, more practical and effective in all fields; highly appreciated the strong coordination and direction of the two Politburoes, the management of the two Governments, as well as the efforts of the ministries, branches and localities of the two countries, including the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, in promoting the effective implementation of high-level agreements, especially the results of the meeting between the two Politburoes.

General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs coordinate with relevant agencies of the two countries to best prepare for important foreign affairs activities in the coming time, especially in 2025, when both countries will have important events.

Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to receive the delegation and respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane to General Secretary To Lam and other senior leaders of Vietnam.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane reported on some highlights of the recent situation in Laos, especially the implementation of the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress, the organization of Party Congresses at all levels towards the 12th National Party Congress; sincerely thanked Vietnam for the great, timely and effective support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Laos so far, including helping Laos successfully assume the rotating chairmanship of ASEAN and AIPA 2024.

Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane emphasized that the relationship between the two countries is at its best and the purpose of this official visit as well as the results of cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries in recent times; affirmed that Laos will closely coordinate with Vietnam to best implement the high-level agreements between the two countries, especially the agreement between the two Politburoes and the memorandum of understanding of the 47th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee to bring practical benefits to the people of Laos and Vietnam.

Also at the meeting, the two sides agreed to promote delegation exchanges at all levels from central to local levels; continue to coordinate effectively and practically, especially promoting the fine traditions of the two nations.

General Secretary To Lam conveyed his warm regards and thanks to General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and senior Lao leaders for sending flower baskets to congratulate the New Year of the Snake 2025 and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam./.
