Making Da Nang a new science and technology center of the country

On the morning of March 29, Da Nang city held a ceremony to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the City Party Committee and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang city.

The program took place at Tien Son Sports Palace, with the participation of General Secretary To Lam, Party and State leaders and nearly 4,000 delegates.

At the program, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, reviewed the history of the formation of the Da Nang Party Committee and the city's development path.

Especially the period after the city separated from Quang Nam - Da Nang province to become a new administrative unit directly under the Central Government, marking an important historical turning point for the city to enter a new period of development but also with many difficulties and challenges.

Up to now, the city's economy has grown quite well over the years, with the average growth rate of the total social product in the area reaching more than 9%/year. Compared to 1997, the economic scale has increased more than 45 times, the budget revenue in the area has increased more than 25.6 times; and the average income per capita has increased 21 times.

"The most outstanding feature of the city is the urban planning and renovation, and the synchronous development of infrastructure. From a small city, Da Nang is now a locality with an urbanization rate of 87.2%, twice as high as the national average," said Mr. Quang.

Along with economic development, the city focuses on synchronous and harmonious development of cultural and social fields with important achievements in culture, education and training, health care, science and technology, sports, literature and arts, etc.

In particular, Da Nang city has issued many breakthrough policies with strong humanism and superiority that have been approved and highly appreciated by public opinion, becoming the city's "brand" such as: the city program "5 no", "3 yes", "4 safe". Thanks to that, Da Nang's human development index is always among the best in the country.

On the journey into the new era, to realize the set goals and requirements, Mr. Quang said the city identified 3 key points to focus on.

In addition to focusing on implementing Party building and rectification, Da Nang will strongly promote economic growth associated with economic restructuring, taking science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the main driving force. Striving to build Da Nang into a new science and technology center of the country.

"Investing in socio-cultural development commensurate with economic development, maximizing cultural and human factors, ensuring social security and further improving people's quality of life, researching and building a socialist model that comprehensively develops the characteristics of socialist people in Da Nang city," Mr. Quang emphasized the orientation.
