Vietnam Airlines launches direct Bangkok-Da Nang flight

NDO - On the afternoon of March 30, the opening ceremony of the direct flight route Bangkok-Da Nang of Vietnam Airlines was held at Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Attending were Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung, representatives of Suvarnabhumi International Airport, and the Thai Immigration Department.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung highly appreciated Vietnam Airlines in promoting tourism connections between Vietnam and Thailand; saying that the opening of flights connecting Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok with Da Nang will contribute to bringing more Vietnamese and Thai tourists as well as tourists from third countries to both countries.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung affirmed that the potential for tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand is still very large. In the period of 2023-2024, nearly 1 million Vietnamese tourists visited Thailand while 500,000 Thai tourists visited Vietnam.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung believes that by focusing on developing new routes, including direct flights connecting Da Nang with Bangkok, Vietnam Airlines will reap many successes and affirms that the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand is always ready to support and accompany Vietnamese businesses doing business in Thailand.

Mr. Ngo Tri Hung, Head of Vietnam Airlines branch in Thailand, affirmed that the opening of the new route marks one of Vietnam Airlines' steps forward in connecting the bustling capital Bangkok and Da Nang, a market with great potential for tourism and services. The opening of the new route will help Da Nang become known to more tourists as well as contribute to promoting tourism cooperation between the two countries.

With the launch of a direct flight connecting Da Nang with Bangkok, Vietnam Airlines continues to affirm its role as a bridge, strengthening its flight network to the surrounding area. With a frequency of 4 flights/week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, Vietnam Airlines hopes to meet the increasing travel demand between the two leading tourist cities in the region.

The first flight VN627 took off at 15:15 from Da Nang and landed in Bangkok at 17:05 and flight VN 626 departed at 18:05 from Bangkok to Da Nang today, marking a new route for domestic and international tourists to explore the beauty of both destinations.

Da Nang is an emerging market with the number of international visitors staying in 2024 reaching more than 4.1 million, an increase of 36.3% compared to 2023. The number of Thai visitors is in the Top 4 international visitor markets staying in Da Nang.

Previously, Vietnam Airlines had opened a route connecting Da Nang and Bangkok, but it was temporarily suspended to rearrange its development plan accordingly. The restoration of some routes, including the route connecting Da Nang and Bangkok, demonstrates Vietnam Airlines' commitment to consolidating its position as the national airline, leading the regional market, and contributing to the country's economic development.
