However, Vietnam's visa policy still needs to continue to be improved, meeting the goal of contributing to socio-economic development, promoting the tourism industry, attracting foreign investors and experts to Vietnam, demonstrating the image of a safe and hospitable Vietnam, helping to further enhance the position and prestige of our country.
The Government Standing Committee also believes that it is necessary to consider creating favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese who wish to regain Vietnamese nationality. This affirms the Party and State's respect and concern for overseas Vietnamese, meets their aspirations, and contributes to continuing to strongly promote important resources from overseas Vietnamese for the cause of national construction and defense, especially in the era of national development.
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the research and expansion of visa exemption and preferential visa policies and the study of amending regulations on nationality are to suit the current situation, meet practical requirements, institutionalize and concretize the Party's guidelines and policies into State policies and laws.
The Prime Minister assigned relevant agencies to receive comments, research, propose, develop, amend, supplement and perfect regulations and policies to submit to competent authorities for consideration and decision.
