The information was announced by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of August 15. Vietnam and China established diplomatic relations in January 1950. Over the past 74 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Vietnam-China relations have maintained a good momentum of development and achieved many important results; high-level exchanges and contacts have taken place vigorously. Following the official visit to China by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in 2022, many delegations of Vietnamese leaders visited China in 2023. On December 12-13, 2023, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife paid a State visit to Vietnam. The two sides then issued a "Joint Statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance", signing 36 cooperation documents in many fields. Since the beginning of 2024, high-level and all-level exchanges and contacts have continued to take place vigorously with many flexible forms. Cooperation in all fields, especially in economics and trade, has developed increasingly substantially. Import-export turnover between the two countries in 2023 reached 171.9 billion USD. Vietnam continues to be China's largest trading partner in ASEAN and China's 4th largest trading partner according to national criteria (after the US, Japan, and South Korea). China's investment in Vietnam in 2023 increased by over 77%, reaching 4.47 billion USD with 707 projects, making it the 4th largest investor in Vietnam. Tourism cooperation has gradually recovered, Vietnam has welcomed 1.75 million Chinese visitors, ranking 2nd among tourist markets to Vietnam (after South Korea with 3.6 million visitors).Dantri.com.vn
