Funeral of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh held with high-level ceremony

The visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on September 18, the memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m., the funeral will be at 1:05 p.m., and the burial will be at 5:15 p.m. the same day at Thien Duc Cemetery Park.

The Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense and the family deeply regret to announce:

Comrade Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Date of birth: May 15, 1957; Hometown: Quang Tho Commune, Quang Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province; Residence: No. 74, Tan Nhue Street, Thuy Phuong Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi City; former member of the Party Central Committee, former member of the Central Military Commission Standing Committee, former Deputy Minister of National Defense. After a period of illness, he was wholeheartedly cared for and treated by the Party, State, Army, professors, doctors and family; however, due to serious illness, he passed away at 01:17 on September 14, 2023 at his home.

The coffin will be laid to rest at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

Comrade Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, born on May 15, 1957, in Quang Tho commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province; permanent residence: No. 74, Tan Nhue street, Thuy Phuong ward, Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi city; former member of the Party Central Committee, former member of the Central Military Commission Standing Committee; former Deputy Minister of National Defense; joined the Party on July 13, 1983.

WORK HISTORY

From October 1976 to August 1977: Soldier of Group 871, student of Cultural School, Ministry of National Defense;

From September 1977 to October 1979: Student of Military Technical Academy;

From November 1979 to August 1980: Soldier d18, Division 390, Corps 1;

From September 1980 to July 1984: Student of Information Technology Officer School; Military Foreign Language University (now Military Science Academy);

From August 1984 to August 1988: Professional Assistant, Department 3, Group 817, Research Department, General Staff, participating in carrying out missions in Cambodia;

From September 1988 to June 1989: Sent for professional training at the Soviet Intelligence Academy;

From July 1989 to August 1993: Deputy Head of Department 3, Group 817, Research Department, General Staff;

From September 1993 to December 1994: Head of Department 9, Department 12, General Department II, Ministry of National Defense;

From January 1995 to October 1999: Deputy Director, Director of Department 12, General Department II, Ministry of National Defense;

From November 1999 to February 2009: Deputy Director General, Director General, General Department II, Ministry of National Defense;

In March 2009, he was appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense;

At the 11th National Party Congress in January 2011, he was elected to the Party Central Committee and a member of the Central Military Commission. In January 2016, at the 12th National Party Congress, he was re-elected to the Party Central Committee and joined the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission;

October 2021: He was given leave by the Party and State according to the regime.

He was a member of the Party Central Committee of the 11th and 12th terms. He was promoted to the rank of Major General in February 2002; Lieutenant General in December 2004; Senior Lieutenant General in December 2011.

For his merits and contributions to the revolutionary cause, he was awarded by the Party and the State: First-class Independence Medal; First, Second and Third-class Military Exploit Medal; First, Second and Third-class Military Exploit Medal; First-class Fatherland Protection Medal; Third-class Labor Medal; Victory Flag Medal; Glorious Soldier Medal, First, Second and Third Class; Friendship Medal of the Russian Federation; Second-class Itsar Medal of the Lao State; Second-class Heroic Medal of the Lao State; Antonio Maceo Medal of the Republic of Cuba; First-class Fatherland Protection Medal of Cambodia; Grand Cross of Cambodia; Golden Ray of the Rising Sun Medal of Japan; 40-year Party membership badge and many other noble awards.

To express condolences and acknowledge the contributions of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense decided to hold a funeral for Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh according to the High-level Funeral ceremony.

The visitation will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on September 18, 2023; the memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m., the funeral will be at 1:05 p.m., and the burial will be at 5:15 p.m. the same day at the Cemetery Park (Bao Thanh Commune, Phu Ninh District, Phu Tho Province).
