Organizing the program "Accompanying women in the border areas"

This morning, April 12, in Thanh commune, Huong Hoa district, the Women's Union, the Border Guard Command of Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with the Women's Union, the Border Guard Command of Quang Tri province to organize the program "Accompanying women in the border areas" in 2024.

At the program, the organizers presented civil works and livelihood models to disadvantaged families in Thanh and Ba Tang communes, including: 28 livelihood models (goats, cows); 2 community wells, 500 national flags and 30 septic tanks.

Presented 200 gifts to women in difficult circumstances in Thanh commune; 20 sets of computers to the Women's Union of border communes of Quang Tri province. On this occasion, the units also visited and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of Thanh Border Guard Station.

The total cost of the program is over 850 million VND, connected and mobilized by the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union from officials and members of agencies, units, and the City Women Entrepreneurs Association.

The livelihood models presented at the program aim to encourage and contribute to helping member families, poor women, single women, women with disabilities, women in special circumstances and poor households reduce difficulties; support means of livelihood for business, create conditions for women and families to rise up, develop family economy, and stabilize life. The construction of community wells and septic toilets will also help people have clean water to use, convenient daily life to protect the health of themselves, their families and the community.

Speaking at the program, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union Nguyen Tran Phuong Tran shared that ethnic minorities residing in border and island areas are the ones who join the Border Guard in protecting sovereignty and border security every day, including important contributions from women.

Currently, despite the special care and attention of the Party and State, the lives of people in border areas, especially women, still face many difficulties and need the joint care, support and encouragement of the community and society.

Hopefully, the meaningful gifts of the program will help women in the border areas of Ba Tang and Thanh communes have more motivation to develop the economy, so that no one is left behind, in line with the purpose and meaning of the program "Accompanying women in the border areas".

The program "Accompanying women in border areas" was launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, aiming to promote the spirit of mutual love and mobilize social resources to care for women's families in difficult circumstances in border communes, including Quang Tri province.

Thereby, contributing to the good implementation of the Party's policies and the State's laws on social security work, participating in building and protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security.
