From April 15: Stop operating Vinh My suspension bridge (Hoa Binh district)

The People's Committee of Hoa Binh district has just issued a notice to stop the operation of Vinh My suspension bridge from 6:00 a.m., April 15, 2025 until further notice.

According to the announcement signed by Mr. Ma Thanh Phuong - Vice Chairman of Hoa Binh District People's Committee, over time of exploitation and use, the structural components of the bridge, such as: railings, bridge deck steel, suspension cables, anchor holes... have rusted, dried out and seriously degraded, affecting the load-bearing capacity, causing the bridge to shake strongly, causing unsafety for people and vehicles passing on the bridge. Therefore, the authorities decided to stop the operation of Vinh My bridge to ensure the safety of the people.

The Vinh My suspension bridge project was funded by donors and put into use in 2007, helping to connect traffic between the North bank of the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau canal (National Highway 1A, An Khoa hamlet, Vinh My B commune) and the South bank of Huy Het hamlet (Vinh My A commune).

Vinh My suspension bridge has served smooth traffic for people and vehicles with a very large flow, especially students.

Although the government has maintained and made minor repairs, such as replacing the bridge surface, reinforcing the cable car, and applying grease, to ensure the longevity of the project, up to now, Vinh My suspension bridge is no longer in good condition for operation.

The People's Committee of Hoa Binh district is widely informing the people and at the same time assigning the authorities of Vinh My A and Vinh My B communes to coordinate in organizing barriers and installing signs prohibiting traffic across the bridge.
