The seedling production model of veteran Le Van Viet, Quang Yen commune, Thanh Ba, achieved revenue of over 1 billion VND/year, creating jobs for many local workers.
Promote the role of a bridge
Currently, the Provincial Veterans Association has 319 Association branches with over 116,200 members. Implementing Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW of the Politburo on strengthening the Party's leadership over the work of Vietnamese veterans in the new revolutionary period, the Provincial Veterans Association has directed all levels of the Association to actively innovate the content and implementation methods; focusing on building a strong Association organization, promoting the role of a bridge between members and the Association organization and the government, actively contributing to consolidating and building the political system at the grassroots level.
The movement “CVD members help each other develop family economy, eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and do good business” continues to be promoted, deepened, and actively responded by members. The Association at all levels strengthens propaganda and mobilizes CVD members to find new economic development directions, shift production structures based on local conditions and strengths, and actively participate in training courses on transferring science and technology to improve knowledge, accumulate experience, and then effectively apply them to family models.
The Association of War Veterans at all levels also received over VND 1,476 billion from the Social Policy Bank for over 26,700 war veteran households to borrow capital to invest in family economic development, along with loans from the National Employment Fund with a total outstanding debt of over VND 6 billion and internal capital contributed by members reaching over VND 61 billion for each other to borrow for economic development without interest or with low interest rates, contributing to creating jobs for over 60,000 workers.
Visiting the seedling production model of veteran Le Van Viet - an example of a veteran who has been doing well economically for many years in Dinh Dong area, Quang Yen commune, Thanh Ba district, we learned that his family has been in the business of growing seedlings for a long time and has also experienced many difficulties. However, thanks to actively participating in training courses organized by the Veterans Association and the locality, over the years, the experience he has accumulated has increased, Mr. Viet decided to expand the garden area, growing more new varieties of plants. Currently, veteran Le Van Viet's family has over 2 hectares of nursery area, providing seedlings for key projects as well as serving the need to green bare land and hills in many localities across the country. Every year, the revenue from Mr. Viet's family nursery reaches over 1 billion VND, creating regular jobs for 10 workers.

Create motivation to rise
Not only accompanying the veterans in economic development and promoting comradeship, the Veterans Association at all levels has implemented many practical activities to support members to improve their lives. With the motto "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", the Veterans Association members in the whole province have joined hands to support the "Comradeship" fund to support the construction and repair of houses for members in difficult circumstances.
“Only when life is difficult can we fully appreciate the camaraderie. The care and support from the Veterans Association at all levels and local officers and members of the Veterans Association are a great source of encouragement and a priceless gift for my family. I am always grateful and appreciative...” are the words shared by veteran and war invalid Nguyen Dinh Thien in Zone 5, Phung Nguyen Commune, Lam Thao District when talking to us in the new house named “Comradeship”. His face showed clear emotion because perhaps without the encouragement and help from the Association and everyone, he would not dare to dream of a spacious house like now.
Through conversation, we learned that in 1977, veteran Nguyen Dinh Thien participated in a battle and was injured on the Cambodian battlefield, with a 4/4 disability. In 1982, he was discharged from the army and returned to his hometown. Due to poor health, he was no longer able to do heavy work, and could only rely on a war invalid allowance of nearly 3 million VND/month, so his family's economy faced many difficulties. In recent years, veteran Nguyen Dinh Thien's family has lived in a seriously degraded level 4 house, at risk of collapsing during storms. Faced with that situation, the district's Veterans Association supported 40 million VND, helping veteran Nguyen Dinh Thien's family have more funds to build a new house with an area of 90m2, with a flat roof and heat-resistant tiles, totaling over 300 million VND.
With the support of the Association, the province now has 253 small and medium-sized enterprises, 58 cooperatives, 1 cooperative group, over 2,800 farms and over 4,300 business households owned by war veterans. Production and business activities have developed steadily, creating camaraderie and solidarity, helping many members to become rich legitimately.
In 2024, the War Veterans Association at all levels in the province mobilized its members to join hands to support the construction and repair of 70 "Comradely Love" houses worth nearly 4.8 billion VND, reaching 140% of the set plan. This is an activity of profound humanitarian significance, demonstrating the care and concern of the War Veterans Association at all levels for members' families with difficult housing circumstances.
Social security work is promoted, activities to honor policy beneficiaries and meritorious people are always focused on by the Association at all levels with a budget of billions of VND/year. The Association also regularly cares and proactively grasps the circumstances and lives of its members' families to promptly support, visit and encourage them when they are sick, ill or encounter sudden difficulties, adding motivation to help war veterans rise up in life.
Chairman of the Provincial Association of War Veterans, Major General Tran Anh Du affirmed: The Association of War Veterans in the province always fully implements the regimes and policies, ensuring the legitimate rights of members. As a bridge between members and the Association, the Association at all levels continues to thoroughly grasp and implement resolutions and directives from higher levels; at the same time, step up propaganda and launch emulation movements to all members; encourage cadres and members to focus on developing family economy, promote the spirit of mutual love, enthusiastically share, help members of the Association of War Veterans in difficulty to rise up, increasingly improve their material and spiritual life, improve the effectiveness of emulation movements, contribute to consolidating and building a strong Association organization, meeting the requirements and tasks set out.
