In order to create a joyful, exciting atmosphere and a healthy playground for students, in recent years, schools in Song Ma district have promoted cultural and sports activities, contributing to spreading the movement of building friendly schools and active students.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Song Ma district has 53 schools with more than 44,000 students; over 2,100 administrators and teachers. With the motto "Happy to study, healthy to contribute", the arts and sports movement is always promoted by schools. Through activities, promptly discover and nurture the core of arts and sports to help students develop their talents and passions while staying away from social evils.

Giang Thi Hoa Mai, class 9A, Huoi Mot Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, Song Ma District: “During the art performances, we share ideas and experiences during the practice process. Not only do we practice artistic skills, but we also have the opportunity to connect with friends. This helps me and my friends become more confident in communicating, connecting and understanding each other.”

Teacher Nguyen Manh Hoang - Vice Principal of Huoi Mot Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, Song Ma District: "The school's art troupes have the advantage that the students all live in the boarding village, so they have a lot of time. Besides, they receive close attention from the teachers in charge of boarding work as well as Ms. Thuy, the team leader."

Along with the movement of developing arts, schools all focus on propagating and educating students to preserve and promote the cultural identity of ethnic groups expressed through costumes, dances, xoè dances, folk songs, folk dances with themes praising love for the homeland, country, beloved Uncle Ho, and people's teachers...

Besides, the movement of physical training and sports in schools is also interested and developed. 100% of school units ensure physical education programs. Many sports and folk games are included in extracurricular activities.

Teacher: Dao Van Tung - Teacher at Chieng So Secondary School, Chieng So Commune, Song Ma District: "To discover gifted students, during the teaching process, we use visual methods and select students with good physical strength to participate in competitions. At school, we organize competitions to select school-level teams and divide them into age groups suitable for the competitions."

The district periodically organizes Phu Dong Sports Festival and sports competitions to create a healthy playground for students. Thereby, assessing the quality of physical education at schools; promoting the sports movement for students. At the same time, discovering talented students to train and foster to participate in sports competitions at all levels.

Ms. Luong Thi Quang Vinh - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Song Ma district, Son La: "In the coming time, to promote the movement of physical education, sports and arts in schools, the Department of Education and Training of the district will continue to direct schools to maintain the activities of physical education clubs and innovate to improve the quality of education, physical education and school sports associated with comprehensive educational development"
