TKV ensures sufficient coal supply for the first quarter

Tens of thousands of miners of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) are entering the first production days of 2025. In the context of fewer production days in the first quarter due to the long holidays and Tet, TKV has promptly directed its member units to have a plan to reserve coal. At the same time, it has boosted production right from the first days of the year, ensuring sufficient coal supply for the consumption market.

By the end of 2024, TKV's clean coal production reached 38.1 million tons, equal to 101% of the annual plan; coal consumption was 46.7 million tons, equal to 100% of the plan. TKV paid 25.5 trillion VND to the State budget, of which the budget payment in Quang Ninh reached 17.6 trillion VND, an increase of 11% compared to the annual plan. These figures demonstrate TKV's outstanding efforts in a particularly difficult year. This is also the motivation for miners to enter the first production quarter of 2025 with an urgent and enthusiastic competitive spirit.

Thong Nhat Coal Company - TKV proactively plans to boost production from the beginning of 2025.

Miner Doan Van Son, Mining Workshop 8, Thong Nhat Coal Company - TKV shared: Although working in the days before the Lunar New Year, our working spirit is still highly focused on the goal of producing enough coal according to the plan of January and the first quarter. Not only ensuring the assigned output, labor safety work at all production positions in the workshop is also enhanced. In particular, in the furnace mirrors, each pair of miners competes to increase productivity, while urging and reminding each other to strictly follow the labor process.

2025 is the year that Thong Nhat Coal Company was assigned by the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group to produce 2 million tons of raw coal and dig 12,000 meters of tunnel. This workload is recorded as the highest ever, in the context of the unit's mining conditions facing many geological difficulties.

However, identifying that underground coal mining always faces specific geological difficulties, Thong Nhat Coal's production units have prepared early, ensuring safe mining conditions since the fourth quarter of 2024. Thanks to that, from the beginning of the first quarter of 2025, the mining and tunneling workshops have smoothly caught up with the production flow.

In January 2025, the weather is forecast to continue to be favorable for coal and mineral mining activities. Meanwhile, the demand for coal in January will show signs of increasing, especially the demand for coal for power plants when rainfall decreases and the economy grows production, preparing goods for the Lunar New Year At Ty. Electricity production in January is also in the high production mobilization cycle, which is an opportunity for coal industry units to boost production, maximizing supply for the consumption market.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Diep, Deputy Director of the Production Control Center in Quang Ninh - TKV said: Based on identifying the challenges and opportunities of 2025, TKV has built a production plan for January and the first quarter with relatively high targets. Regarding raw coal produced in January 2025, TKV plans to produce 2.9 million tons and import coal output of about 1.3 million tons. Coal consumption is 4.3 million tons, of which, electricity households are 3.7 million tons, cement 42 thousand tons, chemical fertilizers: 185 thousand tons; other households: 331; exported coal is about 27.5 thousand tons. Other targets such as the volume of earth and rock removal is about 10.35 million ^m3 ; new tunnel excavation meters are 19.4 thousand meters.

In addition to directing coal production units to boost output, TKV urged downstream units to strengthen the preparation of goods, carry out processing, mixing, and coal storage to provide timely supply to customers before, during, and after the Lunar New Year.

Cam Pha Coal Trading Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin imports coal at Mong Duong - Khe Day - TKV port.

"According to the plan for January 2025, Cam Pha Coal Trading Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin will import 150,000 tons of coal to serve the blending work for consumption according to the Group's requirements. Along with importing enough coal according to the plan assigned by TKV, from the end of 2024, the Company has deployed the coal processing and blending technology process according to the 2025 plan approved by the Group's professional departments. To ensure smooth production, the unit also strengthens inspection and supervision of the technological process of screening and processing systems to meet the correct technical and technological requirements, meeting the standards of processed and blended coal types to serve consumption needs" - Mr. Vu Huu Van, Deputy Director of Cam Pha Coal Trading Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin said.

In addition to boosting production, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group also continues to focus on resolving legal procedures related to applying for exploration licenses, mining licenses; basic design appraisal documents to proactively implement investment projects; completing licensing procedures for mining, processing, and consumption of mine waste rock as ground leveling materials...
