On the evening of July 18, Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) informed about the health condition of Captain Ha Hoang Hau (37 years old), a police officer injured while on duty.
Accordingly, the patient was transferred from Binh Phuoc General Hospital to Cho Ray Hospital at around 7:30 p.m. on July 17. The body had many wounds on the head, back, and arms, which were initially treated. At the Emergency Department, the treatment team bandaged the wounds, administered IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain relievers. The CT scan results showed brain contusion due to right subdural hematoma (traumatic brain injury), fracture of the lateral condyle of the humerus, and complex injuries to the elbow (muscle rupture, ulnar nerve rupture).
The patient underwent emergency surgery that night. The surgical team performed wound debridement, bone fusion, and ulnar nerve suture. The patient is currently being cared for in the Orthopedic Trauma Department in a conscious state, with good contact, and close monitoring of traumatic brain injury.
Previously, at noon on July 17, Hoang Trung Kien (25 years old) organized a drinking party at his house (Tan Phuoc commune, Dong Phu district, Binh Phuoc province) and suddenly caused trouble, smashing things. Upon receiving a report from Kien's family, Tan Phuoc commune police sent Captain Ha Hoang Hau and some members of the security and order protection team at the facility to resolve the matter.
Captain Ha Hoang Hau urged and asked Kien to stop causing trouble. However, the subject suddenly chased after him with a knife, slashing Captain Ha Hoang Hau many times on the head, neck, arms, and back, causing serious injuries. Binh Phuoc Provincial Police are temporarily detaining Kien to consolidate the case, investigate and clarify, and handle according to regulations.
