On February 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) reported the situation of dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease in the fourth week of January in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to HCDC, from January 22 to 28, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 159 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, down 36.8% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks. The total number of hand, foot and mouth disease cases accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to week 4 is 858 cases. Districts with high number of cases per 100,000 people include: District 6, District 8 and Nha Be District.
In the 4th week, Ho Chi Minh City also recorded 207 cases of dengue fever, down 28.4% compared to the average of the previous 4 weeks. The total number of dengue fever cases accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to week 4 is 1,021 cases. Districts with high number of cases per 100,000 people include: District 1, District 12 and Tan Phu District.
To prevent hand, foot and mouth disease and dengue fever, HCDC recommends that people continue to take measures as recommended by the health sector.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has also directed HCDC to take the lead in implementing measures to ensure the prevention and control of Covid-19 and other epidemics during the organization of cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin and in 2024.
Accordingly, HCDC strengthens disease prevention and control, closely monitors diseases, proactively detects outbreaks, effectively controls diseases, and prevents disease outbreaks.
Continue to carry out Covid-19 vaccination, especially for people in risk groups (elderly people, people with underlying diseases...). HCDC coordinates with the Pharmaceutical Affairs Department (Department of Health) to review and balance the number of available vaccines with the risk groups that need priority vaccination, to avoid wasting vaccines.
Strengthen health education and communication for people about prevention, detection, treatment solutions... appropriate to the Covid-19 epidemic situation, especially the protection of high-risk groups, and do not be subjective and negligent in preventing the Covid-19 epidemic even though it has turned into a group B infectious disease.
Strengthening the monitoring of the Covid-19 epidemic situation in the community during the Tet holiday to promptly detect unusual developments of the Covid-19 epidemic situation in order to promptly report and advise the Board of Directors of the Department of Health on the situation and appropriate Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control interventions.
